Just saw your channel, and now I am a subscriber! I have a 80 gal Red Reefer XL300 (3 months now) for a starter tank (20 gal DT too) and will custom build a 300 gal in 2 years in our new custom home. Great video. I have one suggestion about the calcium reactor. I would go in a different direction than the Reef Octopus. I have one and it has the same issue. It has that same CO2 recirculation feature that keeps the bubbles in the chamber making it loud. I did modify the lines to get around it but you are paying more for this feature. Go with the Geo and call it a day.
@RealReefingTV3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the heads up! Which Reef Octopus CR did/do you have?
@ArrickthaRed3 жыл бұрын
I got the 200. It works great but I had to bypass the recirculation part. Now it is silent but it now works just like a normal reactor with is fine but you are paying for a feature that you will not want to use. It is good in theory but running it the way I do my CO2 tank still lasted for a crazy long time with a 10lb tank

@ 2:00 ... get a filter roller, like the Clarisea SK 5000... it'll clear up your tank, keep detritus out of the sump, and it doesn't stink!! I've been running one for over a year. Wow, glad to hear your update on the AquaMax CR, even though it was negative. Where are the air bubbles coming from? A leak some place? The feed into the CR.?
@RealReefingTV3 жыл бұрын
How much would you say you spend on the rolls?
@jamesmolesson99913 жыл бұрын
@@RealReefingTV , obviously depends on your bio load and size if tank. I have a 90g tank. Filter fleece is $24 (131' long) and lasts well over a month in my system. Doesn't smell. Keeps my tank so clear!! Look at the GEO sumps, he installs then into his products, so they've got to be somewhat decent. I'll never go without ever again.

Would highly recommend testing your nutrients since you have the fuge, biopellets and algae turf scrubber. Once all those get rolling it will bottom out the nutrients. Since you have to clear the glass daily I think you'd phosphates are high.

Looking at the comments here, you are not alone. But manual removal and nutrient management is my go to for algae issues. I know it's not exactly an algae but a bacteria... You might try fighting bacteria with bacteria and using one of dr Tim's products or vibrant. Can be found at www.marinedepot.com/113.html

How do u get all ur sps corals growing so well? my methods of filtrations are filter sock protein skimmer carbon and a refugium. my paramers; posphate 0.05, nitrate 5, alk 10, calcuim 480, ph 8. Am just running the blues atm and every time I do that the hair algae goes, so am struggling to find the right balance on how much white light 2 use. If u can help with any advice or maybe do a video on it. Great video as well mate 👍🏾
@RealReefingTV3 жыл бұрын
The light isnt your problem. You have too much nutrients in your water (nitrate/phosphate). Consider adding a form of nutrient export like an algae turf scrubber, GFO, biopellets, etc.
@jonomufc73 жыл бұрын
@@RealReefingTVCheers, am gonna try adding an algae scrubber definitely, been thinking 2 do so for a while actually. So why does my algae go when I turn the whites off, I do have abit of high phosphate and nitrate tho.... Thanks for getting bk, I enjoy your channel bro keep it up. And if u ever come England, shout me up lol and come check out my tank and give help where it's needed 🤣👍🏾
@RealReefingTV3 жыл бұрын
@@jonomufc7 the algae goes away because it needs the light to grow. But you should be able to have your whites on to grow your corals while not having algae outbreaks. Note that you should have a little algae on your rocks but it shouldnt be a unsightly amount. I have a thin layer of algae on my rock, it's healthy for the tank
@jonomufc73 жыл бұрын
@@RealReefingTV Yh gonna put some whites on if I can finally get bk into the ai app 🙈 I can never find my director tho. Defiantly gonna invest in other filtration systems 2 help combat the nutrients.

i had issues with that in the past, could be a multitude of reasons they arent happy, but ive found that i stopped worrying about them and they started growing. im not saying you should just not care, but maybe just let them do their thing and your tank will tell you when they are ready and happy.
