For info " why the hotel is quiet " it is because it's not a school holiday. If you come in Dec I think the place will be packed with Bruneian. Thank you for your visit and comment about our country. Like a malay will say " Tak Kenal Maka Tak Cinta" means if you don't know, you will not fall in love. Hope you will come and experience more from our wonderful country of our beloved Brunei Darussalam.

I've just discovered your videos and I think I actually saw you around Bandar. My fiancé on the other hand got so excited to know that you were here and saddened that he didn't get to see you. LOL. Edit: I think 2 nights stay at Empire Hotel to fully enjoy everything there should be enough. The country club is something else! There used to be an Italian and Chinese restaurant there too but I think it's not opened anymore.

That is the first time I heard about that minimum spend of $35 for just dining at Pantai restaurant. Empire Hotel has changed alot, I have worked there before and stayed there too. I used to bring my international friends around Brunei and airport shuttle and breakfast used to be complimentary. I wouldn’t be surprised if that is the reason why there is low occupancy at the Empire. And I’m Bruneian, and that is saying alot. As much as I like to believe that they need the money to maintain the hotel, but for the food itself.. that was a bit too much. Nonetheless I still love spending time at Empire just to enjoy the views. Im just glad that you enjoyed your stay despite the price.

Hey chris, the next time you come to brunei, you should probably go to the Mall or stay at the Hotel in there. Its not as huge as the Empire Hotel, but it is actually a Decent hotel. also, im glad you enjoy our country!

As a foreigner, you need to have an employment contract and a work permit to stay in the country. Depending on contract type and circumstances, your family may stay with you, but once you are no longer under contract, you have to leave. Getting residency may be possible, but it is not easy and would take time...check the government websites for latest information...

hmmm how weird that the hotel stay in Empire doesnt have complimentary breakfast. It usually is part of the stay for 2 adults 2 kids and you just pay for any additional persons staying with you

Think the $35 per person is for a buffet. Maybe some sort of miscommunication. And you are right. For that price, you should be getting a shuttle ride to and from the airport and breakfast.

as bruneian local here it’s very expensive if ya stay in empire hotel with ur family lmao i’ve stayed at empire hotel many times with my mom and 2 older sister included my older sister’s boyfriend it cost like $4k💀💀💀which is we stayed there for like 2-3 days most of the time😭it’s expensive included the breakfast and dinner too oh gawd💀but me and my fam find it normal🥲

Good video - hotel is beautiful but personally I prefer something smaller and quaint. Would have liked to see a little bit of you guys in the pool and the bar area. Never heard of the $35.00 per person for food that you mentioned. That would be an issue for me. Also, since it more remote, do they offer a free shuttle to and from the City Center? When you start to add up all the free things that your previous hotel offered, it is major dollars in my opinion.
