Mike I haven’t got a tdi but I love watching your videos for the old school tips and tricks. Can’t wait for the next one highly addictive. Even if you have done something similar before, everyone is different 👍.

Good man young felah,because of your clips i was able to fix a homeless gentleman's land rover county,his wheel bearings needed adjustment because he had tried to adjust them himself,the best thing was its was easy because that's the way the old land rovers were built.

Mike there is so much knowledge in these videos. first off thank you! secondly I am new to the game and just purchased a 1987 110 ffr rhd. I am trying to find where my leak is coming from. there is a small small bit of engine oil coming from the head gasket but I am more concerned about the amount of transmission fluid seeping from somewhere. thanks again! -JP

Built many of those cylinder heads during my time employed at Land Rover.......think it was around 20 or so an hour!
@BritannicaRestorations4 жыл бұрын
That is impressive! That's 1 every 3 minutes!
@666DW4 жыл бұрын
Britannica Restorations Ltd I’ll correct myself, the engine assembly line rate was 20 engines built per hour but 3 men could build a sub assembled cylinder head at 30 per hour. Sub assembled rocker shafts, ready to fit to cylinder head in 60 seconds. To fit a cylinder head to a short engine including head bolts, gasket, pushrods, valve caps, rocker shaft and fixed in 60 seconds, although the time given to do the aforementioned task was about 3 minutes🤫
@BritannicaRestorations4 жыл бұрын
No wonder they had so many head problems
@666DW4 жыл бұрын
Britannica Restorations Ltd what are the problems associated with the cylinder head out of interest? I am aware of the warping and cracking out in the field, but that would not be a production issue.
@faroukwasswa35884 жыл бұрын
The sound of a new well installed cylinder head full Revs feel good. 😁😁😁 I feel good everytime you rub oily hands onto your overall because that's what I do. 👇🏿👇🏿💪🏿💪🏿 I opened my brake vacuum pump that developed funny noise after afew years from new, opened it from the shaft side because it's very hard to put back the rivets if you did from the rivets side, I put a very small shim in form of a washer, minimize the gap the shaft moves, put it back and it performs even better than it did when brand new. Land rover, land rover. I dream land rover when I doze 😎😎.

You know, once upon a time a very famous Spanish philosopher, Jose Ortega y Gasset, defined European people like this: The Anglo-Saxons: drunks and slow, the Italians: sensual and concupiscent and Spanish: arrogant and proud. So here we got something that Spanish people truly could be Proud of. Personally I have descendant from a mix of all those people (1/2 Anglo-saxon, 1/4 Italian, and 1/4 Spanish), so I hope if some day a had to do a job like this, better I'll be sober, not in underwear, and not to much proud...that could lead me to make a mistake! Cheers! (Salud!)

Mike, do you know of an easy way to test the compressed strength of valve springs? I understand that springs will lose force over time. Hope this makes sense.
@BritannicaRestorations4 жыл бұрын
Well I could think of a fancy way to test them, but I have no data to work out what they should be
@bigm3834 жыл бұрын
There was an engineering workshop up the road, when I was a kid. They used to do this on new Springs to make packs with the same tension for blueprinting engines. That was back when we had engineering workshops and blueprinted engines.
