I look forward to the owner receiving his Landy back - being presented with the repair bill - driving it around the block and returning after it breaks down - now that will be a great video

I,v got the beer in, now all I need is the start-up. Your films are getting like an Alfred Hichcock suspense story. All the best from Yorkshire Rob.

Ay up Mike, from a South Yorkshire lad, just bought a 200tdi, it's my first defender, I ran series stuff for years and became a reasonable grease monkey, even doing work on other people's, to supplement my income, when I had my smallholding, have learned a lot about defenders already, brilliant vids Mike, well done.
@BritannicaRestorations4 жыл бұрын
Don't see that many 200Tdi now but the principals are all the same! Mike

Be careful when flushing a heater radiator with any water pressure, about 50 years ago I flushed my 1961 ford consul heater out with mains pressure and after that the heater would not work. A year later after enduring a cold winter I unsoldered the the heater and found the water had flattened a diverter plate for the flow of the hot water making the hot water bypass the heater radiator or matrix. Repaired the plate and soldered it up and the car was toasty warm again, we get cold weather in Scotland .

Yeah but old ford heater cores suck! Had a customer bring in an old ford truck with water pump leak. Put a new pump on it and on the test drive the heater core exploded under the dash.

Every time I carry out certain modifications to make maintenance on my vehicle easier, I sometimes think "why am I doing this, I probably won't be the one taking this apart next time". It feels good at the time to know I've overcome a problem and made the job easier, but that's the only positive.
@fastinradfordable4 жыл бұрын
Maybe you should keep one vehicle than working your life away and not reaping the benefits.

When rebuilding a LR I change every fastener I can to a riv-nut & metric bolt. I also change every cross-head screw I can to an 8mm hex-head body-screw. Hex heads come out fast & easy with power-tools. Cross head screws not so much. It leaves things so I can take everything apart again using a 13mm socket, a 10mm socket, an 8mm Tec driver & a power ratchet. Which beats dicking about with the original LR hodge-podge by a country mile. No more struggling to get a spanner on the back of some daft fastener, or cursing as a screwdriver strips out the heads..
