There is a KZbinr that captured a bullet out to 4 or 500 yards and it expanded nicely

A month ago I bought my first .308 in the form of a henry single shot for the purpose of expanding my deer hunting quiver. I just ordered some of this ammo to use this fall. I'm loving the new rifle and am really looking forward to trying out this ammo! Thanks for the videos, man. Really precise and enjoyable content.

When it comes to long range shooting, I think there is a lot of fuzzy thinking going on. Game shooting is not target 🎯 shooting. I am of the camp that says medium and big game shooting needs to quit at around 400 yards just to be on the safe side. Target shooting is a game that has no limits. Wounding a non living paper target is not a thing. Wounding living game from a botched shot is a thing and has a lot of opportunities to happen from a number of factors the further you shoot.

As a shop owner, I'm always amused that 90% of shooters don't know 175 grains is the weight of the projectile. They typically think it means power level. Thinking 180 grain is much more powerful than a 150. So they tend to buy the heaviest projectiles.

Have you done the Barnes vor tx in 308 yet? I went thru your vids and did a search but couldn’t find anything. If you haven’t, would you be interested in doing one before hunting season… please?

Have you done any test yet to see if you gained any feet per second using the can on your rifle just for fun since it’s a little longer barrel now. Hey before and after would be a cool test. I’ve had very good luck with Accubond and Nosler Partitions. And as always, thank you for the great videos and Keep on Keeping on.

Excellent video as always, I’m intrigued. What formula do you use to calculate the impact velocities at different distance? I’ve always wanted to know how to do that.????
@masonoutdoors_masonleather2 ай бұрын
All I did was look at factory published data for velocities at various distances, in this case 100 yards, and calculate the change in velocity from 0 to 100 yards as a percentage, for example X ammo is maintaining 92% of its muzzle velocity at 100 yards… I did that for about two dozen different .308 loads to get an average across all the loads I looked at, and I use that % applied to the given ammo’s chrono’d true muzzle velocity for the 100 yard estimate. There’s very little difference across loads in terms of %MV maintained at 100 yards, so I just apply the same % to all of them. If you were to do this for extended ranges, you’d have to tailor it for the bullet’s ballistic coefficient (how aerodynamic it is) a lot more, for example a 180gr RN Remington Corelokt out of a .308 is going to slow down WAY more by 500 yards (or even 200) than a 178gr ELDX. Glad to be of service and thanks for your support!

I loaded these bullets in my 3006 for this upcoming moose season, shoots right at 2700 fps out of my rifle' should be a good choice if I can get it to group well (haven't had a chance to tune the hand loads yet )😢

I wonder if the Garmin chronograph would register velocities 100yds etc. if it was sitting on a table/ground close to the target.
