Congratulations on your degree! I wondered what your background was considering your knowledge of fish, fish parasites and your identification using proper scientific names. I was the only girl in my high school who took a class called “Fisheries” from a Japanese Teacher named Mr Kimura. I thought I was going to be a Marine Biologist but chose Nursing instead.

14:38 onions burn your eyes because the gas they give off mixes with fluid in your eyes to create an acid. I learned that from my ophthalmologist when I got contacts; if I’m wearing my contacts, they create a barrier between my eyes and the gas from the onions so my eyes never burn

They contain sulphur compounds and create sulphuric acid in ur eyes :)
@Menuki3 жыл бұрын
The compound is concentrated at the roots, the longer you avoid cutting into that area, the more you can avoid tearing

Huh. In my experience, as long as I can't smell the gas, my eyes won't water.

Congratulations on your graduation. You and your family must be very proud. Thank you for your videos. I am learning so much. Love from Texas.
I'm a new subscriber I feel like listening to my friend talking when I watch Masaru's videos Since I cannot dive into the ocean and see many unique creatures there, it's amazing that Masaru's videos let me experience it indirectly Stay healthy, Masaru
Great video! In South Africa we have "alikreukel" (giant periwinkle). They are smaller than the green turbans but very similar. They were not very popular and quite common, but still we need a permit to take out 5 per person per day. Growing up I learned from my dad that one needs to boil them to get them out of the shell. Don't know if their shell shape is maybe just a bit more difficult to get a knife in, but never questioned the fact that they need to be boiled. In my culture we would never eat them raw, but maybe next time I will try to get it out of the shell fresh and have some sashimi!
A trick when preparing raw onions: cut the top and the root off, then immediately cut the onion in half. It's much easier to peel, that way, and there's less time for it to burn your eyes.
@therealdeakins3 жыл бұрын
In addition to this tip, you can also use your peeler both ways. No need to slide down, lift away and start again from the top. Now when you peel up and down, you'll be finished in half the time!

My mother loves to eat green turban shells and my great grandma used to make jewelry from their door things but due to over fishing and people grabbing a ton of them even when they are below the size limit we haven't seen any in years in our area lol This video was very fun to watch and brought back some of my mums childhood memories of eating them when there were plenty :)

I really love your videos, so much positivity and love your jokes, I think you can do well in stand-up comedy as well too perhaps. Always so cheerful and explaining many things to watchers we don't know about seafoods. Ganbatte kudasai Masaru-san !
