Hi thanks for the video. Never seen one of these before. Where can I get one of these and how much are they ?

I'll point out that you can pick up a Savage Mark II FV heavy barrel from Cabela's Canada for the same $250. They're basically an updated continuation of the old Canadian made Lakefield .22's so parts and spare mags are dirt cheap and plentiful. A quick search suggests these Norinco NS522 rifles are based on the Anschutz Model 54 action so mags for that gun should work. Another quick search shows those mags are $60 from Midway USA for a 5 round ($80 for a 10 round) compared to $20-$25 for 5 or 10 round mags for the Savage available at damn near any gun shop in Canada. Both guns are probably stupid accurate at rimfire distances but I think I'd go with the Savage just for parts availability.

KFS still has spare magazines, owner manuals and some nice Italian made Circassian Walnut stocks for the 522. Also a bunch of complete rifles minus the bolts.

That is great for those located in the USA but as far as I know all the NS522 rifles with the odd stocks were sold in Canada, and to the best of my knowledge KFS does not ship to Canada. As far as mags go there are lots of EM332 mags available in Canada now for reasonable prices, and they can be altered easily to fit the NS522.

For a heads up on this gun, mine came with one of the two mags (almost said clip) that won't lock into the gun; the hole in the mag that the release mechanism connects to is a little to small to make a positive connection - I compared the differences between the mags and noticed the discrepancy. Luckily it didn't drop out somewhere and get lost as I noticed this at home. Once the hole is opened up a little it should work fine.

Good info for anyone with a new one, something to keep an eye out for.

Good review. When accuracy testing a minimum of three to five types of ammo should be tested because accuracy varies so much with any gun and different ammo brands. You know more about guns than I do.
@31429911 жыл бұрын
The more types you can try the better, sometimes what shoots best is surprising.

The stuck bolt release is a result of slapping the bolt back hard. It happened on my EM332, I think it's a thing with these rifles.

Could be.

you may want to pull out your extractors and give them a good cleaning and pull most of cotton off a Qtip and push it in there to make sure there is no binding and clean the nasty stuff in there and check everything for smoothness if not some ultra fine grit like 2500 should help ps one side should have a stiffer spring and hope you have some small tools extractors can be a pain I used a very small flat head screwdriver happy shooting. kevin

Yes, that might be worth doing at some point.

I have one of these and did a trigger job, pillar bedded and freefloated the barrel, now its my most accurate gun, even more so than my anschutz, sako, savage model 12 etc. I love it so much I actually found a second one a friend had and bought it from him as a project. Just can't find a gunsmith to do a Boyd's stock for it. Any suggestions? My question is do you have any other rimfire that out shoots it?

There was someone in western Canada that was making and selling wood target/tactical type stocks for these, sorry but I don't recall the name at the moment. As for accuracy It's certainly a top contender, I have a Brno No 4 that shoots just as well (but no better) than the NS522 but it's a much longer, heavier rife. A Shultz & Larsen target rifle is also quite accurate but it's only a single shot. The NS 522 sees much more use than the others so I suppose that says something.

Thanks for the reply, I'll keep looking for the stock. It is an awesome little Rifle just wished the stock was a bit better. Cheers from southern Ontario.

Any idea if this rifle fits in a CZ 452 stock? I hear you may be the one to ask.
@3142993 жыл бұрын
Nope, the NS522 is not going to fit in a CZ 452 stock.

I did not see any leading from any of the rounds I tried.

nice review it look like a good rifle how is the triger pull and is the stock free floating ? and would it shoot better than a savage mark 2 bull barrel ?
@31429911 жыл бұрын
Trigger pull is decent, not too heavy and fairly crisp. The trigger is a simple mechanism, it could probably be improved with a bit of polishing and the addition of an over-travel screw. Barrel is not free floating. I really dont know how it would compare accuracy wise with a bull barrel Savage as I dont have any experience with one.

O.K. now, because of your review ( and a couple of others) on the 552, I have just ordered one from Canada Ammo. Now as you said there are no sights on this rifle,.what scope would you recommend for me to buy; considering that I am going to use this for target shooting and some plinking too ( of course)

***** I took your advice and bought two scopes,.a Nikon Prostaff 3-9 x 40 BDC and a Bushnell Banner 3-0 x 40 as well....I have rewceived my rifle from Canada Ammo,..looks really good,..BUT I have not had the time or chance yet to clean it up ( as was said, they do come coated with protective heavy oil and poly. sleeve.) When I do I will be sure to try it out. Cheers

nice gun .. i have a question how do i get the bullets to stay in the mag while im trying to cock the gun for firing cause i went out to trey my mossberg .22 350ka and the bullets kept coming outta the mag while i was trying to cock it so i ended up taking all the bullets out of the magazine and only leaving one in and i got it to engage and then i shot it nice sound and no recoil which was nice lol having shot 6 slugs through a 12 gauge gave me a bruise lol anyways hopefully you could let me know if im doing something wrong or if its the magazine .
@31429911 жыл бұрын
Sounds like there might be some issue with your magazine as the rounds should stay in place until fed into the chamber by the bolt. I suggest getting another magazine to try.
@ChrisMcEvoy11 жыл бұрын
ok thanks ill try and locate a magazine for it

The rings are Weaver Quad Lock. Scope is a $50 Chinese made "Ravage" brand, not a great scope but I suppose it's worth the low price.

I have one of these that I bought from KFS in Atlanta years ago. Mine does not have the target crown although an aquaintance of mine also bought one at the same time and his had the target crown. I shot mine today for the first time in about 5 years and it is still a tack driver. It loves CCI Stingers. About .375 5 shot groups at 25 yds. even though I need cataract surgery in my shooting eye. Mine came with only 1 mag. Anyone know where I might get another?
@3142993 жыл бұрын
I'm surprised that you had good luck with Stingers as personally I have not found them to be an accurate round. As for sources of spare mags for these I'm not aware of any.

I was FORTUNATE to have gotten one of the EARLY ONES that was imported with the original NICE WALNUT stock not that IMPROVISED stock that the barreled action was put into after the FACT that they can't come into this country anymore. I heard quite a few (don't know the exact number) were sent to Canada as barreled action then that company quickly and cheaply came up with stocks that were MARGINALLY ADEQUATE to do the job. The original also had checkering at the pistol grip, forearm and properly inletted. I was IMPRESSED with the quality of materials and WORKMANSHIP not like most Chinese weapons that are FUNCTIONAL but not very well finished like most American made weapons. THERE IS NO PLASTIC ANYWHERE on the rifle. The trigger guard is MACHINED STEEL not bent sheet metal, barreled action held to the stock with 2 good size Allen wrench bolts. Magazine is NICELY MADE all sheet metal. There are no iron sights on the HEAVYWEIGHT HAMMER FORGED BARREL making the rifle a bit HEAVY to carry out in the woods but doable. It really shines as a bench rifle which really takes advantage of the heavy free floating barrel and having a scope instead of iron sights. GREAT RIFLE for the MONEY awhile back now they are hard to find and have gotten expensive because the CAT IS OUT OF THE BAG about its ACCURACY.😲😉👍😁😂😂😂😂😂 Glad I got mine, lots cheaper than the Anshultz 54 that it is a very close copy of. 😁👍
@314299 Жыл бұрын
Yes, the NS522 rifles you see in the USA were brought in by the importer as barreled actions and then mated up with Walnut stocks sourced from Italy. Those do indeed look like very nice stocks. The Canadian imported guns were the same barreled actions mated up with a stock that was intended for a different model, and it shows as the channel for the bolt handle is wrong. Despite the somewhat homely stock they are as you say excellent shooters,

+Yang Thao That depends on the ammunition used. With high velocity ammo it is loud enough, with sub-sonic ammo it is not very loud.
