I believe House of the Dead on the Saturn was ported by an Australian team who worked on the port of Manx TT. So they had experience with the system but had a rushed schedule. They didn't have enough time to polish off the graphics.

That ManxTT port was pretty average. How amazing could it have been if the Saturn Sega Rally team did the port?

For Time Crisis you can plug a controller in the second controller port and all of the face buttons will function as the "duck" button. Put it on the floor and use your foot for some pretty arcade faithful Time Crisis action.

Hakaider Last Judgement game served as a story sequel to the 1995 movie which was a reboot of the Hakaider villain character from the 1972 Android Kikaider TV series of which George Lucas said that Hakaider was used as inspiration for creating Darth Vader in Star Wars. Elemental Gearbolt had a deluxe edition that came with a metal suitcase and a gold gun which goes for insane prices now on the used market.

I remember the arcade version of Crypt Killer having an absolutely insanely large arcade unit, even for wide-screen light-gun games of the time. I was always disappointed we never got home ports by Sega for the first two Jurassic Park games and The Ocean Hunter and Lets Go Jungle, those are by far my favorite gun games of all time, if not some of my favorite games of all time. I would love to see a on-rails spin-off/hidden mini-game adaption of the TimeSplitters series.

Top notch job you guys. I hadn't ever heard of at least a third of the games you covered, and it's not like I'm some young kid scrub -- I'm a child of the 80s and grew up with light gun games throughout the 4th and 5th generations of consoles. Awesome episode! The much maligned Light Gun genre is one of my favourites. Thankfully they seem to be getting a revival of sorts with VR. Until Dawn Rush of Blood is essentially a haunted house light gun game. Are you guys gonna do a post-32 bit episode? Lots of great Light Gun games on the Dreamcast, PS2, Wii & PS3 even if they weren't technically light guns by the HD era.

However it is usefull for the hardware conversions I did (Sega Light Phaser to NES, Radica Menacer to Sega Menacer, Sega Stunner to SNES)

Great video. Hey I'm the 1000 comment!:) Something I learned with the Guncon and the Playstation is that if you connect the 2nd contoller you can put it on the floor and use it as a "footpedal" to mimic the arcade. I found that helped make it easier to aim quickly since i didn't have my hand on the side of the gun. Great review. I imported the Sega Stunner and Guncon because they weren't the crazy orange color due to US toy gun laws.

A "32-Bit light gun games" and you cover only SAT and PS games? What about the 3DO? That thing has some really nice gun games like Mad Dog McCree and Crime Patrol.
@electronash
@electronash 7 жыл бұрын
Gladson MF Also, the Dreamcast is technically still "32-bit", despite the marketing BS claim of "128-bit". The Hitachi SH-4 in the DC is 32-bit, but does use a 64-bit to them Holly GPU, IIRC. The GPU does have and few 128-bit instructions, but if we were using that metric, we would have had "128-bit" PCs around 1996. lol
@electronash
@electronash 7 жыл бұрын
OK, I guess we now have an accepted "32-bit era" in the World of retro, otherwise you could even argue that the N64 is technically 32-bit as well. :p Like the DC though, the N64 does do most of the graphics and audio processing on the RSP (part of the RCP chip), and that includes a true vector unit. I don't think the CPU in the N64 uses any true 64-bit instructions for the games, and the CPU also only has a 32-bit bus to the RCP. The whole thing is moot though, as I don't think the N64 ever had any light gun games? I expect I'll be proven wrong though, as there's bound to be some kooky games from Japan that had a light gun. lol (I did have the official N64 mouse with the 64DD for a while, but I sold the lot once we dumped all the disks.)

Arcade by my house used to do all night free-play for 30$ on new years eve, those were time crisis (and shadows over mystara) days. As an aside, you know about the player 2 foot pedal, right? Plug a regular controller into port 2 and it will double as the reload/cover button. If you have an old janky controller you don't mind stepping on you can have the "authentic arcade experience!" (as well as a d-pad imbedded in your foot)

The Moorhuhn, or Crazy Chicken, franchise of games started in 1999 as a freeware score shooting game that was tied into a Johnnie Walker brand whiskey ad campaign, of all thing. The original game was developed in Germany. 'Moorhuhn' means grouse, probably because Johnnie Walker is a Scottish whiskey brand and hunting grouses in moors is a thing there? Since the original game was free and the internet was becoming a widespread household thing just then it saw massive success and spawned a lot of merchandise of its own, including additional games from almost all genres.

It was kind of a crazy here in Germany. White collar workers used to share the game via EMAIL since the filesize was only about 1mb. Guess gdp even dropped for a few months.

Wow the flashing was a problem but I love Game Sack so much I suffered through but enjoyed it. So many games I have never seen or discussed ever in today's episode, good times. Point Blank on the DS was fun in a violating sort of way.

Goddamn Metallica. This is why you don't download their music, cause they will come at you full force to end your pirating ways! They took down Napster, and now they will take down you.

Usually I drop everything for your videos. But I'm photosensitive. Tried it with just the sound. Wasn't enough. Thanks for the disclaimer up front.
