Very cool splitter. The engineering that went in to building it is really impressive. I was wondering if there would be an issue with wood binding up under the top plate until you showed that it raises up. Really thought out well! Love to know more about the choice of a 27 or 28hp motor…. That thing must push over 25 ton easily!

Extremely impressive build quality for a home built machine. Only thing holding thst splitter back from being fast is the cylinder. But such a cylinder is expensive. Wonder how much the ones that Wolfe Ridge and Eastonmade use cost?

Your friend is quite a craftsman. The splitter appeared to be very heavy duty. How would you compare it to your Ruggedmade splitter, especially to cycle time, capacity, and durability? It seemed to split the hardwoods with ease. Great video
@DudeRanchDIY
@DudeRanchDIY Жыл бұрын
It’s extremely heavy duty. Not really in the same class as the ruggedmade as far as comparison. It has a 28 gallon per minute pump and 28 hp motor while the RuggedMade has a 13 hp motor with a 22 gallon per minute pump. My ruggedmade might be a little faster on the cycle time at the moment but he is planning on putting a different cylinder on to speed his up. His machine is overall much larger than the RuggedMade and much heavier duty.

Great splitter. I would be curious to know how much he payed for the parts and materials and how many hours he had into building it. Doesn't really matter, when you build it yourself you get alot of satisfaction from a job well done . My splitter is only a single wedge but I built it from parts and materials I had and some given to me. I only have about 130 dollars in to it. So now you know I'm a cheapskate.
