Just do a 2 inch coil over in the front, and either 1 inch block, 1.5 AAL or 2 inch leafs in the rear. This with a 265 75 r16 or 265 70 r17 looks really good and will save you ton of headache and money. Going up to a 33 on the taco is definitely doable and looks great, but it requires more modifications than what most people want to or can afford to do.

So I ran a 3” front 2” rear on my Tacoma 2017 Trd off-road and 285/70/17 cooper discovery pros. Method 315s with -12. I did not reall rub at all and I had the stock mud flaps. Fast forward I now have a new 23 Trd off-road and I I want to run the same wheel and tire package. But I like a little more space then I originally had in the wheel well. So I’m torn between a 6” and a 3”. What would you recommend to give me around 4.5” all the way around? I do daily drive . Thank you for any info!

Sup gents! I have a 06 Tacoma; full 33s (285/75r16) with, CMC, viper cut, aftermarket UCAs and 2.5 inch lift. They still rub a tiny bit on the bottom of the rear front fenders. At this point I’m thinking of doing a fender trim. But I also think it might be the spacers I’m running right now (around 1.25 inch) Should I try running the wheels without the spacers to see if it makes a difference? Or just go for the trim?

How in the fuck does a puck compress your spring. LMFAO.

A "puck" doesn't directly compress your spring, but preload collar lifts and many types of spacers reduce down travel. Either way, spacers are whack.

What about pre-load collars as opposed to pucks? I’m wanting to keep my TRD Pro suspension, fit bigger tires, and re-gear. I also understand that it’s not so much a lift that you need on a yota, it’s more about your offset to clear your UCA and body mount. What would be the cons of running a pre-load collar lift and small wheel spacers to clear 285/75r16 tires on OEM rims on a ‘22 TRD Pro?
@mtnyotas
@mtnyotas Жыл бұрын
The only collar I'd go with is a Westcott kit... the downside will be a stiffer ride and less down travel, but that's your best bet for the money, short of getting full proper suspension.

I know several people with 3/2 ReadyLIFT on their Tacomas and have had zero issues. My friend has a 2016 with a 3/2 ReadyLIFT and has had it installed from the dealer in 2016 and has had ZERO issues. Sure it’s stiffer than stock but I too have a 3/2 ReadyLIFT and I love it. I also had a 3/2 ReadyLIFT on a Tundra and loved it on that truck too. The fact of the matter is when you’re going off road or you’re a hard-core off Roader something is bound to break, get worn out or get messed up.
@mtnyotas
@mtnyotas Жыл бұрын
It depends on your goals… reducing ride quality and decreasing your suspension’s travel for the sake of getting up higher doesn’t make sense to us. We think it’s worth just saving up a bit more and doing a proper lift. Nothing wrong with wanting a lift to get bigger tires though 🙏

I see you guys are speaking to your market, but let’s do a little reality check … the total 0.9” in diameter you gain over the largest stock size (31.7’s) makes zero sense from a performance standpoint. The switch to 33’s (ahem, 32.6’s) adds 0.9” to the tire size and you have to body mount chop, trim plastics in the wheel well, you might even have to do some pinch weld mod, your crawl ratio gets even worse than it is at stock, and larger tires harm your gas mileage and therefore range, and you put more strain on the Tacoma’s already weak ball joints. The only argument you can make for increasing the tire size to 33’s is appearance - because that 0.45” of diff height off the ground isn’t even remotely worth the cost and effort to fit 33’s … so why don’t we all just stop lying to ourselves? Let’s start admitting that Tacoma owners want the appearance bigger tires lend, but have zero understanding and interest in the real performance aspects off-road. 🤷‍♂️ Then, we can have a more honest conversation that isn’t based on false pretenses. 🔨

You don’t have to do any chopping or trimming at all. I have 33s and no mods required. You just need the right rim side and offset and a 3” lift. Done deal. And 0.9” is a lot of difference visually. It’s basically 0.1 away from a whole inch. And that also gives you more cushion when off roading. You can do a rear gear as well. Not a big deal. You sound like someone who would love 33s but is too fucking inept to do some basic work to the truck such as a proper suspension mod with a diff drop and regear.
