The Monkees version was the original. The video mislabeled it as coming out in 67 when it came out in 66. Neil's version was correctly labeled as 67. It is understandable for the mistake as Neil Diamond was the one who wrote it.

To me Robert Hazzard's original of that song does NOt sound like David Bowise, but more like The Cars, not only in music style but in vocals too.

Actually Soft Cell made a techno remake for Gloria Joneses Tained in Love. If she survived the car crash probably she would be pleased to be the influence for the new genre artist to do music, but who knows maybe she will be rise some questions about the copyright and what kind of domain of intellectual property the song will be part public or private.

Whitney Houston covered a fair share of Country songs. Probably because her roots were in gospel. This was interesting

The irony ! Seen so many artists cop so much flack from attempting to cover these artists (britney- I love rock n roll, Marilyn Manson - tainted love, Gweneth paltrow - Bette Davis eyes, ANYONE who tries to sing a single whitney huston song etc etc) yet those artists were doing covers anyway!

Barry Manilow's song Mandy had to have a name change since there was a song Named Brandy (You're a Fine Girl) by the Looking Glass and people me3t confused by the two songs. (Yes I know that was a silly reason). At least that's how I heard about it from a DJ. Scott Englishis's Brandy is about a dog.
@chrismulwee49113 жыл бұрын
You're right. Manilow renamed it Mandy to avoid confusion with the Looking Glass song. It's still the same song, except that Barry left out the first part of the final verse which goes "Ridin' on a country bus; no one seemed to notice us.."
