Staging close to the area being worked on should always be allowed unless there are safety reasons why not. The yard will regain its previous condition in a few weeks, rain will wash off any sawdust. I personally know the time consuming it becomes when you need to make an extra cut and must walk farther. Great videos

regulations are calculated, tested and published always for worse case scenarios. This means that 95% of all codes means that we overbuilt it. If you get a engeneer to calculate the studs of a house in a non snow and no wind place you will discover that the code requires 2x more wood to build than calculations requires 😢. Here in Brazil we just published a regulations for wood frame and we don't even had a 16in or 24in requirements for studs 😊.

Even in my old racket of waste water treatment (fine career btw) the money certainly captured the regulatory agencies.

I think big insurance companies are driving building codes. Lawsuits are at a all time high. If a person can get rich by suing there neighbor they'll do it. Also natural disaster is a driving force in some area's. Insurance companies would rather replace shingles than a whole roof structure.

If I heard correctly, Florida’s homeowners rates have like tripled, and I think Farmers completely left the state!

@@MyDIYBuilds We had the amazing luck of having to have our roof replaced twice in three years due to hail damage. Good old State Farm dropped us like a bad habit, then promptly jacked up our car insurance rates since we no longer had a "bundled" plan. After that, almost every homeowner's insurance company expressed shock that State Farm dropped us for claims due to "acts of God", but then turned around and refused to insure us because of those claims. I had a healthy dislike of insurance companies before that experience, now I downright despise them.

overkill is better than underkill and im sure has saved alot of money in law suits. who knows, that deck could be an outlier and lasts as long as it has. theres an argument for either way.

absolutely the insuarance companies are driving this , it gives them in edge in refusing to pay on homeownwer claims , "it was built to code , so you the home owner must have done something wrong , we're not paying on your claim
