Father’s Day will always hold special meaning to me. We lost him on June 24th 2003 at age 54. I was 20 at the time. I was still trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life having tried & failed at 4-year college and a tech college. I had finally settled into an auto tech program at another tech college and was 6 months from graduation when he passed away unexpectedly. Now, 16 years later, I’ve been a full time mechanic for 14 of those years and am foreman of the local city shop. I have 3 kids and a house of my own. My dad was a hard worker, a family man, respectful to all and honest & generous to a fault. He was also incredibly intelligent. I miss him every day and I can only hope that I’m somehow making him proud. Thank you for a touching video, appropriate that I found it today. The best to you & yours.

Hearing your story sounded just like my dad......he fought it to the end but you could see the cancer had taken hold of his brain and he could do nothing to stop it. I have some really fond memories of my dad but they help to blot out the illness at the end.....I really miss him and all the help and advice he has given me over the years.

My dad passed away 3 years ago, he was an amazing dad, loving, nurturing, sensitive, talented and we his family were the centre of his universe. 3 weeks after he passed, my amazing mum joined him. What a great find ... for a mower .... just had to clean my fuel pickup on my mower just 2 weeks ago. It would mow for about 20 mn and then stall out ... but there was fuel in the tank. So just like you, took the tank off ... saw the fuel pickup was plugged ... cleaned it and now it runs like it did years ago. I am even back to better fuel use as well ... liven and learning ... You had a great DAD and it's obvious to see that you are the same for your family as well ... Happy Fathers day to all the DADS out there ... Thanks for another great video ...

Your comments on your father made me think of mine who passed on Father's Day 1989. Your father sounded a lot like mine. He beat his cancer in his lungs and brain. His cancer finally got him when it got into his kidneys. When I get wished happy Father's Day I don't think of him passing but of what he did while he lived.

When someone passes over, as all of us will one day, and all that can be said of him is that he was a good man, what greater praise can anyone of us get! Keep your good memories of him, I know that all memories of him may not be the best, but as you said, "He did the best that he could under the circumstances". That is how I view my own father. he was a carrier Navy veteran, and we moved a lot. I learned to be flexible because of that. My best memory of him is that he never discourages any of the 3 of us from trying something new. My best example of that is my first car, It was a very old Renault 4CV 1949 If my memory serves. He had brought it home, the engine and transaxle were both disassembled, thankfully each in a separate box. I had bugged him about the car, and one day he said to me, "If you can get it running, you can have it". At the time I had a route of homes that I did yard work for. I was making fairly good money, and one of my customers had a Renault that had the same drive train as the 4CV. He lent me his shop manual, and I slowly pieced the car back together. The manual was in French but was well illustrated, so I used the pictures to reassemble the transaxle and engine. And I got it to run and drove it everywhere for 2 years. The only thing that I could never get to function was the starter motor, but that was not a problem, because the car came equipped with an engine crank. I kept the distributor hold down clamp only snug, and to start it, would retard the spark, crank it till it started, usually with one or 2 cranks, and then advance the spark until the engine sounded , "right to my ear". , and would drive away. I made it a practice to find a hill to park it on, so I could coast start it as often as possible. Great memory. My dad was a good man too.

It’s the first Sunday in September in Australia 🇦🇺 and often times it falls on my dads birthday weekend (September 4). I’m grateful he’s still alive however he’s quickly being overcome by Alzheimer’s disease. It’s so very tough watching such a strong man become weak.
