Being from Michigan, that's almost Bear country... with 1200 ft of lake frontage, the house needs to come down they need to put something 'substantial' up there... Something complimentary, something on the lines of something Frank Lloyd Wrightish... a lot of stone, glass and wood. I'd venture to say, maybe mid-century modern feel, dark-house themed.... that could work.
