Every once in a while I think "I don't need my 3 lb weights anymore" and then you hit me with all these flys and I am grateful that I kept them. Thank you Larie for yet another amazing workout.

Congrats Larie for the idea of dropping weight in half. I thought hey I'm going to kill this one. I forgot that a 60s timer is 33% longer than 45s... Great workout !

What are the benefits to drop set? Can we do the whole workout with the same set of weights? I don't lift super heavy just around 8lb because that's all I can really manage

Of course you can. All instructors (including Larie) always tell us to adapt workouts to our own needs/abilities.
