I'm loving these videos Steve! I'm a single guy living and working in Saudi Arabia. All I'm doing is paying of debt and saving money. I can't wait to be debt free again and have enough money to move somewhere where I can pay rent for a year or two up front and relax. My profession as a graphic designer will allow me to work anywhere in the world and make enough to buy food and what not. Loving life and definitely thinking about moving to the Philippines!

Thanks! I'm really enjoying the rental videos. They've really given me an idea of what to expect there. I've lived in smaller places before but that would be a great "starter" home for anyone coming in-country. Especially for the first time. Myself? I could live with everything but the bathroom, it would definitely have to have an upgrade! ha.

Its perfect price, if you want to live like this. As you said, you will get what you pay. This is a fair price. I could not live there, I am more the province person. I prefer silence and no traffic, but have to accept also the disadvantages in the infrastructure.

Steve, Franco here, from NY. I am astounded by your content! Retirement in the Philippines is truly affordable for someone like me who has a limited 401K, a house on Long Island, NY, and a SS benefit that should net me ~$1500 US. I thought I was doomed but video after video you show me the possibilities of living a very decent lifestyle in the Philippines. Truth be told, I've never been interested in living in a condo in downtown Manila. So the reality of living in the outskirts/suburbs of a big city, quasi adapting to Filipino food (lots to discover), and being sorta frugal, can net me a $1,000 a month budget? I am taking in lots of information as I plan my last few years of work here in the US and then make my way to the Philippines. With that kind of budget, I am thinking I could continue to save and build a buffer till my dying day. Thanks so much for your words. Means so much to me! -Franco

Very, very nice for P42,00/ 1 YEAR'S rent. That's less than $ 900 year; P42K / 365 = P115/day or $2 plus change. AND the CR has a towel rack which for some odd reason, is not a normal feature in many places. Clean, secure, bug and pest free.

Thanks for the house tour and info. The price is great but with the Filipino style CR and no stove or cupboards in the kitchen the initial expense would be higher than a place that already has those things, but once it's set up would be pretty cheap living. I wonder how many sq meters total that house is?

I w@s just thinking that, you take your shower and use that water to dump in the toilet. I bet 5gal buckets are cheap.... lol. But a hand held shower head. A rice cooker, induction plate and microwave. A/C unit, and internet, WHAM ! all set. I would have my stoop outside for chilling and that would be just fine.

How does rent work there? Lease duration, month-to-month, etc... I assume you covered this in other videos, maybe a link. I'd also like to see the electric panel in these types of places. I assume breakers? I live in the US in a "normal" 1700sf house, but inside I live in basically one room. I've been moving toward smaller and smaller spaces for about 15 years and have liked smaller spaces a lot. It was a little hard to switch being use to having lots of unused rooms. The rest of the house I converted to a shop for wood working, gardening and other projects because those are things I enjoy and I live in Phoenix AZ so building a big shop isn't an easy property to find. I just prefer making things rather than watching TV all day every day. I still need to figure out exactly how bathrooms are used in the Philippines so I can start practicing and getting use to that. I think it's easier to get used to the Philippines lifestyle here first slowly. Thanks for posting.

Rents work the same as back home. The breakers are the same as back home in all the units I’ve shown. Showers can be attached to the spigot in the bathroom and most places can put in an American toilet if you pay or ask them. The changes here are not that big if you plan properly. 👍❤️✌️🙏🏻🇺🇸

@@MrSteven5975 Thanks. Yes, I understood the shower, easy. I plan on adapting to how Filipinos use the CR...part of the adventure. Just need to know the delicate details of using their toilet. I've seen one video that was pretty clear, but it's kind of like "really? Am I really doing this right?" type thing. And I know many other places in the world do the same, custom for example only eating food with your right hand because the left is for use in the CR.

If shower is not available..there will be err, i cant remember the term, like a pail or bucket but with a handle on the side. You basically have a bigger bucket to put your water in and you use the pail and pour it over yourself. A lot of areas wont have heaters.. but then again it’s typically hot enough (no winter).

Steve good information and video. Would PLDT Fiber internet be available most places there? My gf is Tagalog speaking and we are considering moving from Dumaguete in Negros Oriental where they speak Visaya to Cavite once the lockdown ends. I am paying P12k a month for a small 2 bedroom 2 bath with really small garden here. The PLDT Fiber I have is excellent speed for sports streaming etc. so would hope to get it in Cavite if we moved there.

If it’s from wires it’s on them probably. Not sure. Most people are poor and the building is brick in most cases. They just let it go..... nothing you can do if the person is broke ..... even if negligence is involved. But they do have insurance if you want it. See link I left in the comments.
