You're incredibly knowledgeable about these trucks. Too bad every salesman at the dealerships for all makes don't take the time to educate themselves on the products they sell to assist folks in making the correct decision in a purchase. It really should be a requirement to have the passion you do. Thanks.

Great video! living up here in Quebec, with a 2022 Denali 3500 HD, I now know what I should be looking for! Tires...and DEF... it's almost like LIFE and DEATH LOL! Thank you for the pointers, we will make sure to maintain it the best we can! It's not like we want to change every other year...our "Beast" is too expansive....& Beautiful! 😆

Nice review. I had bought a 2020 Duramax about the time I discovered your channel a couple years ago. I loved the truck but it thought the check engine light was suppose to stay on I guess so I ended up getting a 2022 6.6 gassed and so far so good. I’ve had it for about a year and 3 months now and am closing in on 23,000 miles. As far as fit and finish I would agree. I feel my truck is as good today as it was December 14, 2021 when I took delivery. I did love the diesel power but just didn’t trust my truck since it’s my daily driver and my families primary traveling vehicle. The 6.6 gas getting the 10 speed is very tempting but I think I’ll keep what I got for awhile.

My 2008 Duramax finally gave up the ghost. The crankshaft broke on the first throw at 427,xxx miles. Was still running awesome and getting 20 MPG unloaded. Used 1/2 quart between oil changes. Drove it 10 more miles to a TA truck stop in Wapakoneta, OH then called a wrecker. She is being rebuilt as I type this. A few upgrades and who knows how many miles I will get this time around. I expect the 6 speed Alison to need attention next because of the miles but even it is working fine. Was fully deleted at 60,000 miles. The heaviest I tow on a regular basis is in the 7,000 to 11,000 range.

Love the super swamper bogger ring! Why don't you drive a dually? I have a 2017 Silverado 3500 HD SRW long bed and I tow a 35' fifth wheel and I am always over gross on my truck and just barely under on my axles. I do have a heavy Ranch hand front bumper with an 18k winch and I usually have a 60 gallon transfer tank in the bed because in the middle of Wyoming you could be a long ways away from fuel. I have been working on building a 24 High Country Dually just so I can try to stay legal. I also like to tow doubles behind my 5er. Wyoming is pretty generous with their driver's license requirements because a couple of years ago they made it so we can tow 39,000 lbs on a class C license. Anyway, these trucks are getting very expensive, I think I will be at 90k plus with this build. And a good deal is MSRP!!!!

Good video. I got the same truck but a 2016. I just got done replacing the def heater under warranty. The other thing I really hate is the auto-locking door feature. If I move the truck just a little bit the doors lock. It's a real PIA when your in and out positioning a trailer. I been told you can't disable that feature.

I think all new vehicles come with 30,000 mile tires. That all we get out of all our new work trucks and our new car.

Best thing you can do with these new diesels is to delete them. Screw the EPA and their BS!

I thought the plow would overload that front axle with the diesel
@truckguyjoe
@truckguyjoe 8 ай бұрын
As long as the truck has option code VYU (Snow Plow Prep) it is equipped with the proper torsion bars to handle the weight of the plow. These diesels with VYU have a 6,000lb. front axle rating.

What motor do you push for 25,000 miles a year, 75% highway miles, no towing.
@truckguyjoe
@truckguyjoe 8 ай бұрын
I'd say a 1/2 ton would be fine...if you're not towing or hauling anything heavy in the bed. I've sold quite a few 1500's with the 3.0 Duramax. They are great on fuel and highway use is best for diesels. Keeps the particulate filter clean.

Thanks. I doubt I’ve ever “needed” a large truck, but I like seeing over traffic and the occasional heavy run to dump, etc if I wanted to stick with 2500, is the Duramax a safe bet? I know they scrapped the problematic CP4 fuel pump.

Those bfg tires are great but like you said you have to stay on top of rotations. If not your gonna be looking at 30-40k tops before the treads wear out on those.

So what you're saying is that you removed/replaced all of the stuff prone to failure and now you're trouble free? Amazing!

@Monster RAM so what you're telling me is that you have to open up your timing cover just to fix this one stupid dowel pin that bind up the whole motor 🤣🤣🤣
@monsterram6617
@monsterram6617 Жыл бұрын
@@beowulf885 Oh, you thought I was giving you a hard time? Rofl. I was actually agreeing that to make a modern diesel reliable you have to delete stuff, upgrade, etc. And yeah, on a 12V there's the KDP... which, btw is much easier and far cheaper to remedy than what you had to do. Also, I have a 6.7 CR and there's no KDP. But I'm sure you knew that which is why you brought it up as some kind of slant against me or some corporation (lol) even though it doesn't apply to me and IDGAF about brand loyalties. Cute comment though. I'm sure you felt big for a second or two after typing it. 👌

@@beowulf885 If you think a 2014 Ram looks like a 2nd gen you're blind and if you think that was an essay you're dumb. Considering all that, I don't need to feel anything. But I can tell my reply hit a sore spot. That is pretty funny, tbh.
