Another auction hunt … I know, I know, I should be spending my time working on all my outstanding projects, however this was just too good to pass up - when do you get an opportunity to see not one but two original M1070 Oshkosh military trucks??? These were originally built for the US Army to transport the M1 Abrams tank and man are they built tough - wish I could’ve bought both of them, and the ’94 379 hood with the super jakes and the mint Squarebody with the Banks turbo, and …

I'm in the United States Army and I am assigned to a HET unit. We haul every sort of tank on the M1000 trailer hooked up to the truck. They are incredible and we have pulled a Gross weigh of well over 200,000 pounds without any struggle. Awesome to see you thinking it's a sweet ride. Keep up the good work Mark!

I am sure a thousand guys have told you now. I was a heavy wheel mechanic in the Army active duty for 10 years. The hoses in the back are for chemical warfare. They are for filtering the air. So the hoses hook up to your gas mask. The bench seat is for the tank crew. The old ones had a 8V92 Detroit in it. The new ones have cat C18. I want the new one. Side note. I hauled a broke 'het," which is the truck you are in With a M1Abrams on the back. With my Hemtt wrecker. It broke my toe cylinder and chewed my tires up so bad. It took 1 inch off my tires in a 20 mile trip. I saw my motor Sgt do it so I had to try it

I just bought a 1957 Kenworth CC-925 that has been sitting outside for at least 30 years and it's frame is in better shape than most of the trucks at that auction. I paid $1500 and dragged it out of the Mojave Desert. It has 5X3 twin sticks. A couple of years ago I was at my local pick a part and there was a 6.2 diesel suburban with a Banks system on it and I pulled the Banks system and bought it for a couple hundred bucks. They are long discontinued and still in demand. Most people just pull the factory turbo system off of the 6.5 with the factory turbo. I was running a 6.5 in my 1994 H1 Hummer up until 2 years ago when I duramax swapped it. Most people don't realize that GM sold the design for the 6.2/6.5 to AM General and they were actually updated and made much better than the GM version. The optimizer was the first revision followed by the GEP P400 which is sadly discontinued. Many GM truck owners purchased the GEP P400 to install in GM trucks and Suburbans. I had a GEP P400 in my H1 Hummer up until I did the Duramax swap. I originally purchased the H1 Hummer with a broken crankshaft caused by the failure of the harmonic balancer which is a very common occurrence. The P400 is rated from the factory at 250hp and 550tq and they can easily make more power and in my Hummer I was making 325hp and 600tq which is actually respectable. I kept the P400 from my Hummer when I duramax swapped it just in case I find the perfect Chevy truck with a tired or broken 6.2 or 6.5 engine.

Yes, they are street legal. We see them all the time on the interstate in Wisconsin, running in National Guard convoys. Being a USMC Iraq war veteran, we used Oshkosh 7 ton 6x6 trucks overseas and in the states. Pretty tough trucks. Oshkosh not only makes military trucks, they also make fire/rescue vehicles.

Cool episode. I use to pick up Oshkosh trucks up in WISCONSIN and deliver them to military bases all over the east coast. I would have to start them almost every day to keep the tires up so the chains wouldn't go slack. On a drop deck most could just drive right off without ramps. Very cool stuff they build!

Those military trucks are called HETT’s Heavey Equipment Tank Transport. They were built specifically for the M-1 Abrums Tank

7:01 that’s a blower for a pneumatic or vac trailer, worked for a company that had 350 of them, they’re 2-3 or 4 hopper trailers that are used for hauling commodities like a hopper bottom but you can blow it up piping into a bin or any container and keeps it all sanitary/food grade. They’re used for the powder part of cement mix at big plants. Or we could change the pipes and use them as a vacuum, like vac out spilled grail or use it as a holding tank off a vac truck. The uses are endless but they’re a huge pain to take care of but a lot of the big 5 hoppers are out in the patch too for frac stuff too

We have an old military Oshkosh where I work. I believe it was a wrecker, or they wanted it as a wrecker. It was too slow on the highway so it's a water truck now. The tires will go flat over time but after you start it, they puff right back up. They self regulate the pressure on all tires. My first half ton was an 85 Chevy Sierra. I loved it, I could climb right in where the engine is and there was lots of room to work in there. Had an old police cruiser engine with the 4 barrels. I had to keep a box of fuel pumps with me because it would randomly kill them. Luckily the pump was easy access front of the engine. Unfortunately, I did not have a licence then. My ex had it in his name. When we split, he traded it for a stereo. I never found it, never seen that truck again.

I live about 60 miles west of Texarkana and know a lot of people that work at Red River Army Depot and I still own a 1982 chevy squarebody that originally had a 6.2 diesel. I swapped it out to a 350 gas for more pulling power.

Mark, you have a extra zinger left in the bag! You finished with the GMC with the 6.2 Detroit diesel! WOW talk about bringing back memories man! This was my first diesel engine! Mine was in a 1986 Chevrolet K5 blazer, white with burgundy interior 4X4 with a 700R4 (which I had rebuilt twice) only issue with the engine was glow plugs and glow plug relay! No turbo. I remember that GM came out with the 6.5 which had a turbo from the factory and was the next best thing? If I remember I had the civilian version and it had a awesome 165 hp ? The military version was 225 hp? Mine wouldn't pull a greased string out of a cats ass? But I got a awesome 33 mph! I was at the lake and this fella had a brand new f150 with the matching paint on his ranger bass boat and the boat ramp was wet and he was having issues with his 4X4 locking up ( it was tinging and his rear was breaking traction) I asked if he needed some help and he asked if I had something to help him out, my old Blazer? ( 😂 his response) so I nosed up and locked my gal in 4 low and pulled hi out and kept on pulling a good 150' to prove my point! Brother 2/3 people came up to ask me what just happened and were shocked as to how easy it was to pull that off? The fella in the f150 said his truck was only 3 weeks old and the 1st time he tried the 4X4 ? Thanks brother for starting the old 6.2 up...you just took me back 30 years!

Those HETs are a beast, the air system that was disconnected is called CTIS central tire inflation system you can adjust to run in snow, sand mud and a run flat mode, and the rear tire steer is all part of the system they turn extremely well for a vehicle of their size

There is a recovery company here in Australia that uses one of the Oshkosh tow trucks to pull sunken boats out of rivers and ocean that if not removed cause environment pollution. tows them 100 metres through mangroves and all sorts of terrain. They are a beast

You letting Jake go on that Cat, bring memories. The owner that worked for sold Freightliner 3406E 2008. Replaced it International ProStar first emission control system. First week with the ProStar, had a customer at bottom of hill. The Store was on intersection. You turn right the street was steeper than hill. A Pet had a C15, straight pipes logger haul comes over the hill just a screaming. The Pet get out of hear sound, the owner of the Store say your new truck does have a Jake?

The hoses in the cab are for the Nuclear/Bio/chem filtration system. They hook into the clean side of a pro mask. And the rear wheel steering is speed controlled. Keeps you from dragging the rear drive around corners and stripping the tires. and if it didn't have it, you couldn't do a u-turn on a football field

Lol I had a 6.2 also. Always had a can of Cosby Sauce in the truck for when it got cold . Loads of nice trucks ,the Volvo sold for cheap. The pick up at the end went for $16,500 that was a lot for a 82.

Would love to see those Patriach videos, but believe it or not, I can't afford to. Have been on a Disability pension since '93,the year I could no longer drive my beautiful Truck interstate. Have Lyme disease, caught by unknowingly sleeping on a ticks nest, while on night maneuvers in the military, back in the '70's. Unfortunately, the Australian government, doesn't believe Lyme disease to be in Australia. Hence no Military pension. S......t happens. Anyways Mark, as I have said before.
