Did I miss the reason for omitting a replacement dust shield…..? Thanks for you input as I am in the middle of a similar project on a 96 corolla wagon and I installed the hub into the bearing forgetting that the dust shield has to go on the knuckle first, contemplating installing w/o dust shield to avoid taking the new hub out of the new bearing risking damage to my new assembly. Thanks for the perfectly presented video!
@themechanic6117 Жыл бұрын
Do you know where to buy new dust shields? I thought you can't get them anymore
@ArtHouseElite Жыл бұрын
For my 96 corolla, dust shields are listed as available at Toyota parts suppliers ( Toyota parts overstock, Lakeland, FL.).
@themechanic6117 Жыл бұрын
This is not a Toyota. This is a 91 Honda ... these parts are no longer available.... in your case , I would take it back apart and re do it , even if it costs another set of wheel bearings. Do the job the right way. I only left the dust shield off because they are no longer produced. If honda sold new shields I would have put them on.

Very important point he did not tell you. Did you see that spacer he put on the CV shaft splines before installing the knuckle and hub? This is nessasary to do when doing a K series swap. If you don't install that spacer your axle will pop out possibly causing a shit load of damage. USE THE SPACERS!

Are those RSX Type S 500hp axles? I bought the insane shafts EF civic/crx 36mm 500hp axles (part # IS-047 and IS-048) and they won’t fit. In the karcepts manual it says RSX Type S fit. I’m using Hasport mounts in the lower position so the hood shuts are you in the lower mounting position too?
@themechanic611710 ай бұрын
I don't think stock rsx s axles are rated for 500hp but I could be wrong . No I'm using the higher setting on my mounts because I'd rather have extra ground clearance

I have those same insane shaft axles but I'm using the custom karcepts 36mm wheel hub
@thecrxperience484310 ай бұрын
No sorry I didn’t mean stock rsx type s I meant insane shafts rsx type s 500hp (part # IS-013 and IS-014) axles. I’m also using karcepts hubs but when I tried installing the driver axle it was a bit too long and haven’t tried the passenger yet. In the instruction manual it says to use rsx type s axles so I was just wondering if maybe these EF specific axles are a little longer. Sounds like it’s probably due to my engine mounting position if yours fit and mine don’t with identical everything else. Appreciate the quick reply.

The CRX is gonna be too nice to drive. I don't agree about using the press. I can use my 20 ton press quicker than getting out all the parts for the portable press. I also just kinda like using the press all the time. I watch that KZbin press channel where they squish different things with a massive press

I almost did that restoring my Miata. I finally said to myself "good enough". It looks good enough that I get compliments on it all the time, but not so good that the odd chip or door ding doesn't ruin my mood. I replaced every wear item and made it reliable enough that I'd feel comfortable driving it across the country. The body was beaten and rusted to shit when I bought it but the engine had recently been rebuilt and had all the paperwork for it, so that saved me a ton of work and expense. I still notice little things that bug me about it, like a wave in a body panel that no one else will notice but I notice it every single time. Meh, it's my nice weather summer car and only gets driver a few times a month for a few months a year. I'm kinda glad I didn't go full retard in the resto but I do find myself restoring little bits of the car at a times. It really is tough to know when to draw the line and say enough is enough when it's a labour of love. We all love watching those shows where they completely restore or restomod a car better than new and wanna do that ourselfs
@themechanic6117 Жыл бұрын
I hear you, even if I make it " nice enough " I've never been one to beat on things I own . So if I Made it really nice or left it looking like a turd I'd still love it and treat it the same..... like bro don't lean on my rust bucket. You might scratch the paint 🤣
