I think the difference is that "Friends" is presented as more "benign" and "feel good." So that's a more fun, palatable and nostalgic feeling. Whereas Seinfeld is deliberately bad natured, sarcastic and cold. No hugging. No learning. It has a harder edge, so it's a bit more dynamic. And, frankly, people don't always like dynamic. Being the Sithy East Coast edgelord I am, Seinfeld feels like home to me and I could never get into Friends, but that's just me

To me, Jason Alexander felt like the ONLY one who was seriously acting and performing with all his heart and spirit. The rest feel like they're just playing fictional versions of themselves (and in the cases of some, that's actually true). George is easily the best and greatest character from the show, I cannot imagine Seinfeld without him.
