To sort your lights, volt drop is related to wire gauge. Use a larger gauge wire and problem sorted. 👍

Always use a relay and switch with large current draw components. Voltage drop is due to the length of the wire and current (ampacity) gauge.

That voltage drop is too much. Either gauge is way to small, or the switch can't cope and you need a relay. Lookup the current draw for the combined lights and their are free voltage drop calculators online. Thick wires to fuse box with relay controlled by old switch for the high powered setting is probably the min. If the voltage drop is large for low power/blinkers etc, then the entire loom is undersized.

I like the way Hillbilly and the crew think things out, and keep diagnosing the issue though a process of elimination, rather then just throwing parts at the problem! Throw in some body work and painting, a rescue or two, trips to buy old cars and projects, life never is boring at Layton Auto Body! Colton is working out to be a really good team member too! And we love little Bombi the shop cat too!

One way around the issue of not being able to get your plumb bob over the location where you need it is to use one of those self leveling laser levels on a tripod that project a horizontal and vertical line. I got a pretty decent one off of Amazon for less than $100.

36psi fuel pressure and 42psi under WOT is perfectly in spec. The reason the pressure drops at idle is because the engine is running in vacuum and the regulator is trying to keep a constant pressure differential between the fuel rail and the manifold.

Multiple relays, one for each light and function. Check current required for the lights. Check your fuel filter too. Look into som BG Enterprises additives for fuel clean and oil. Those both work really well.

Fuel pressure is supposed to drop when you add vacuum. That’s how it adjust pressure when it’s running. At idle is when you have the most vacuum so it lowers the fuel pressure because it doesn’t need the extra fuel.

​@@Senickeven if they do leave the cat outside whenever they are not at the shop that cat still has a way better life now than it was having the day it walked up into the back shop area.. Plus I'd assume to say that Robbie & his crew are doing things inside that building a majority of the hours in a day. How many times has he stated he was still in the paint booth @ 1,2,3 am.. With that said bombi really doesn't have to spend all that long outside thruout the night & like it was previously stated bombi still has a litter box sitting outside if thats actually where they keep it & wasnt there for cleaning or someother temporary reason.. He was an all the time outside cat that didn't have a daily food & water supply plus random toys.. But I also understand why they wouldn't leave the cat completely unattended while everyone is gone home for the evening.. With the amount of customer cars he has in the shop he can't afford to have the cat go into any of those customer cars really for any reason but owner being allergic is a big 1 or the cat possibly doing any of the following like scratching the seats, center console, steering wheel, door panels & maybe even the headliner.. Oh an the possibility of bombi going to the bathroom somewhere inside the car &or spraying inside the car marking his territory as cats naturally do..

The liter box was out side because we started feeding the cat very well and his little body was not adjusting well and he blew that litter box to pieces so it had to be taken out side!! The smell was nausiating!!! But he’s adjusted well and things are good

Just a thought. You might have better luck using the explorer/mountaineer with 5.0 wiring and computers. One of the ranger forums had it spelled out fairly well. One hick up they said was the anti theft key. You'll get your up to date codes. Another thing the explorer had the more desired heads and the oil filter was relocated.

I put a 302 into a 1984 Toyota. Best thing I did was to remove the EFI and put in a carb. I might still have the old EFI. If You want it, I'll drop it off the next time I travel to UT from AZ.

Big lights ought to have their own relay inside so all you do is run BIG wire direct from the battery to their ring bolt terminal and have an ickle switch wire :o)

I know this is probably taped a month ago, but Ford had a problem with the older Fords with the wiring harness and light switch. You'll need a couple of relays wired direct to the battery and being operated by light switch

I had the same problem with my truck and if you hook up the O2 sensor plug on the bottom of the engine it'll be hidden from site but once you plug it in instantaneously there will be no more skipping and more worries

@Robby Layton relays are used to keep from burning vehicle to ground . Small wire turns relay on and heavy gauge wire applies power to lights

Its great to see the Broncstar back up and going the way it should be. Im also glad to see that Hillbilly kept it Ford powered over another overdone ls junk motor. Also think its great seeing the transformation of the little bronco 2 into what it is now. I had an 88 and watching these videos really make me miss my old bronco 2. I do wish Robby would be a little happier and supportive for Hillbilly rather than talking down the build all the time. I understand it's probably all in good fun, but at the same time all makes and models have their ups and downs and Fred has been a trooper even though its had the snot beat out of it and its still ford powered. I just hope the bosses bronco stays ford powered aswell the bronco is an icon and should stay ford powered, in my opinion.
