Fantastic inspirational, you do what most of us glider pilots dream of. Fly cross-country without the competition aspect, just for the pure joy of soaring! Love it!! Thank you for sharing your adventure.

Excellent content! Perhaps for another video one day, your planning considerations for these types of multi-day cross country flights, in terms of determining distance/day, where to stay overnight, etc. Have inspired me to start looking into doing these in the USA, although likely a bit more difficult with the much lower count of glider airfields.

Hi Stefan I am enjoying your videos nearly from the first day. Thank you very much for all of them. I recognized that you always have your variometer in cruise mode and i would appreciate if you could share your thoughts on McCready theory, speed to fly indicator and so on. How do you select your airspeed in cruise and how do you weight the different factors? I know, this is a very complex topic ... perhaps you find some time to create a videotutorial on this for cross country greenhorns like me?!

Spend most of my you tube time watching car videos, but for some reason, soaring videos also are great to watch. Question, do the glider batteries need charging everyday? Also can the glider battery charge the phone?
@littleoad11 ай бұрын
You often charge the batteries every time after flying(some batteries may need charging all year) . As there might be great weather the next day. And no. Phones cant be charged, its only for the instruments (atleast its so in my club)

I know nothing about gliding, but it looks like a lot of fun. Whats are the beeps and whirs we hear while you are flying? Is it just instrumentation noises?
@MisteurCraft2 жыл бұрын
Biping comes from the total energy variometer, an instrument that glider pilot's heavily rely on. It's initially a needle instrument, but the bip allows pilot to focus more on the exterior rather than constantly looking at it.

As a current paragliding student, I dream with having a glider one day. I wonder what is the cost of flying aside of the purchasing. How much is for each tow? What about maintenance of the aircraft?
@SteFly2 жыл бұрын
The tow depends on the local club. From 20€ to 40€ is a normal price in Germany. A tow up to 1000m may cost up to 100€ in France or Italy, but that's the worst case. Insurance and air worthiness review for a club class glider is about 1000€ per year. There is not a lot of maintenance on a pure glider, most of the things can be done by yourself with instruction of the inspector.ä
@FFFStudioSH2 жыл бұрын
@@SteFly Thank you for the answer, somehow is almost cheaper that paragliding, even in China where I live at the moment they charge you between 3 to 10 euros everytime they take you uphill to jump, unless you get some good thermals, you wont be up in the air for that long. Amazing sport, I will continue following your channel hopping one day I can start to fly myself. Great content :)

Stefan, just curious which glider do you enjoy flying the most and what are your thoughts of the libelle if you’ve flown one?
@SteFly2 жыл бұрын
I like gliders which gives the pilot a lot of feedback what´s going on in the air. At the moment I´m enjoying the LS3 very much. The Std. Libelle is a great glider and I learned cross country flying on it. In terms of performance, there is a big step between Std. Libelle and LS3. Not 100% happy with the ASG29, or at least I need to fly it more often to get used to it. I would miss the LS3 more than the ASG29 :D

About 1500 € per year for insurance, inspection and some spare parts. The glider incl accessory costs between 25k - 40k
@vishtayeganeh174 Жыл бұрын
@@SteFly the 25k to 40k cost is fix cost I assume and 1500 euro is anual cost including insurance . Its good that with having glider the Hanger cost of aerodrome is eliminated . This is a big advantage against of owning light aircraft . ( hangar cost, maitentence , fuel , etc...) Then I need only to find a club in Valencia and take the course .... Actually looks like there is not glider school in Valencia but you may have some connection and its appreciated if you introduce them to me . Have a safe flight and Regards from Valencia
