I really like what RK is doing as far as being open and informative. No other company does that. Try to get information on from any of their competitors and (assuming you are able to get any reply at all) they will point you to their dealer - who's inability to answer questions is the whole reason for attempting to contact the manufacturer in the first place.

Good afternoon Mike! Thanks for the info on the rk tractor resources...there's many people out here that simply ARE NOT computer literate, such as myself, that do have difficulty finding information on the RK tractor prices and implementation. Going to sound funny - not buying a tractor but since you brought the RK Site up have been going through it and reminds me of the MIMS books I used in the military. Enjoying the heck out of going through the exploded views of those units. Thank you for more reading material. Have fun getting that new out-post built. Look for seeing it built and finished. Stay safe doing it.

Mike I really thought you were gonna surprise us with the sawmill. Thought you'd mill all your own lumber for the tower blind since you have all the saw logs. Either way, can't wait to see how it turns out. We're actually about to do something very similar on our property. We've got a nice flat spot in the middle of the woods that needs cleared and a tower blind built. Good luck

If you haven't demolished that apple tree yet, look over on "Out Of The Woods" channel. He just sawed up an apple log, and that wood is really beautiful. I know the logs wouldn't be big enough to do a floor or make structural timbers, but for a special project ... well, take a look at it.

Been loosing a bunch of cherry the past few years. I took down 2 recently that were in a similar situation. Not quite as bad but the bottom was rotten and full of ants about 3 feet up. Had 4 others either have the tops break off or whole tree come down that all had ants eating up the stumps one full of holes from the woodpeckers. Might need to find somebody who is buying cherry and have a bunch of the others taken out before they all end up like that. Have one that got hit by lighting a couple years ago too. Looks like rifling in a barrel pretty cool. I heard it when it hit sounded like a damn bomb in the back yard. Bark and splinters from the tree were thrown everywhere within about 20 feet from the tree. That one is still standing and still seems fairly healthy but 2 that were right next to it have come down now.

You say that you have had more of a dry spell lately. Wish I could say the same. Last year, 2018, the Cincinnati area was up over a foot in precipitation (55.9 inches with a normal of 42.52 inches). Since the start of 2019 we are up by 7 inches (17.6 inches with a normal of 10.5 inches). The Pittsburgh area is close to normal at 9.56 inches for 2019. I can't get to alot of our property by tractor since it is like driving in a swamp. Good luck with the blind. I have 5 tower blinds on our property and site selection and preparation is the key.

Would the deer blind also double as a picnic pavilion during the Summer with a picnic table? How often do you run your tractor in 4 wheel drive. Almost always? Only as needed, < 10%! Is there any down side to keeping in 4 wheel drive, tire wear? Tearing up the lawn or trails?

I'm curious Mike why you bought lumber rather than use round post off the property? I, personally would use as much timber from the property as I could, especially if I had a mill, just to make it a little more personal and unique. Great spot to build but also I would want to go higher just because. On my previous property I built a tower 6m or 20 feet tall and the view was fantastic.

Not really related to this video but just a thought, could you include a short talk on the difference between the loader controls on the 24 and 37 in a future video? Not so much the directions and such since you've covered that but which position you like more, the next to the steering wheel vs next to the operator, which is more comfortable, natural etc.

Did I hear you say that your loosing OAK TREES ? If so you probably have what we call Oak Wilt it only effects oaks and it generally goes in a straight line ! Check the trees in every direction and I’d bet you’ll see a pattern. We had it come through our place and it was weird you could see where it was headed by the trees it effected! There are things to do to stop it ! Just call your AGG.Extension office or local university ag department they should be of help ! If not just ask me and I can round up some info for you .

I think the trees have been falling because it has been very windy with strong winds during a period where the ground has been very wet for such a length of time it is getting soft deeper than normal after a decade of not enough rain or infrequent rain. Why have roots deep down for water if the water isn't that deep? If a branch or root is unproductive the plant normally cuts them off. I think it will get better once the trees start actively growing and using the water.

You might save your self some questions if the listing of the equipment below the video was all hyper links to the appropriate website, instead of like just 'RK24 with loader', make that a hyperlink to the RK site and that particular model like www.rktractors.com/products-tractors-rk24-series-rk-tractors.php. Then in the video you just say if you have any questions or need more info about the products shown here, check the links below the video.... Might even setup a tag with the product provider so they can track how many hits you send them. :)

Mike in your adult life have you ever seen the ground retain as much water in western Penn as the last year ? Could be the contributing factor to your tree loss. Continue to be safe.
@shawnb29275 жыл бұрын
@Gary Benedict - I agree, I've lost more trees this year, oak, maple, aspen, ash, cherry, than the last 5 years combined. Ash of course from the ash borer, but I've left them standing till I can get to them. They are rotting at the stump very quickly because the ground is saturated. I think all of the trees are suffering in the low areas where they just can't tolerate being underwater 24/7/365.

Most of the trunk came flying up and maybe a 10 ft sliver was left at the base . The guy didn't even put a strap on the tree . Was thinking your how to tree cutting videos are very important to amateurs like me . Thanks Mike .
