Select the two Vertices then press the J key to Join :)

I am trying to figure out what you did at 1:00 with splitting the edge into multiple pieces.

I selected the edge loop and then Crtl B to bevel the edge to split in to two edge loops. You can also scroll up and down on the mouse wheel to add more loops :)

@@androidcemetery3d Thank you! I thought I had tried that. Ended up finding the offset edge loop option, but that was only allowing the 2 cuts on the side.

How long it took approximately to model this piece from start to finish ?

From start to finish it took about 2 hours to model and texture :)

Is there any advantage to manually triangulating a mesh instead of just doing it with a modifier before exporting?

If you want more control of how the mesh is going to be triangulated, you can do it manually, but a lot of the time I use the modifier because its faster and in case I have missed any Ngons.

I'm not sure if I have the original files but you can download the model and texture files from Sketchfab ( Link in the description ) and import that model in to Blender.
