You can get 2 tins of 500 .177 caliber pellets used in airguns from walmart for around 10 dollars for 1,000 pellets . The lead pellet are really soft . You can flatten them out with a pair of pliers and add 30 pellets to each piece . You can add the glue gun glue over the lead and fill up till the bottom is flat and turn it over on a flat vaseline coated top to make the bottom completely flat so you can add a piece of felt .

not only finally a set that has the right dimentions 3.75inch/9.5cm king, 40-50% of the height as diameter, 75-80% of diameter as square size. ALSO space already added for the weights.

recipie: king h = 9.5cm or 3.75' king d = 4.4cm or 1.75' square l = 5.5cm or 2.2' these are within the official numbers of the FIDE and USFC standards. www.chess.com/article/view/chess-board-dimensions#standards since there are no specifications for the other pieces i always go with the 40-50% height to diameter, that is proposed for the king. so if you go for a 4cm pawn, its diameter would be between 1.6cm and 2cm, whatever looks best.

Mostly because I didn't have any felt, and I already had the foam. But I also think that foam matches well with the plastic pieces.
