Dave, you should check out James Bruton/XRobots.UK's videos on his BB-8 builds, he has 3 versions where he 3D printed most of the pieces and actually makes it move with a controller.

just a couple of questions. what made you choose to use PLA over other plastics i.e. ABS? also is it possible if you provide a link to the bb8 builders club ive tried to google it and there loads of different ones :S

How long did it take to print the whole piece?

50 min, but keep in mind it was solid test print. when I get to it they wont be solid and should take less time
