This is built into Max now. The 'place pivot surface' tool. Located in the quad menu. Useful with sub-object snaps turned on.

Love that you're doing some KZbin tutorials now Alex. Wanted a little explainer on the subobject pivot script so this did the trick! :)

Thank you for useful tips. I agree with all, it would be cool to see your workflow and design techniques in some kind of tutorial. Even timelapse video will be fine.

@Alex Senechal When you explain your Hotkey Layout at around 7:00min there is nothing shown on the Screen. And i finding those entrys in Max 2019 is a bit of a problem for me. ^^ Could you maybe attach a link in the decription to some Screenshots with the entrys?

Nice tutorial. I also recommend script called 'miauu's Work Plane'. I think it's even better than sub-object pivot.

I'm wondering the same the same thing as Juan if you could make a gumroad video similar to the class maybe for a more simplified design or "dumbed" down version, I'm a beginner in max so I don't want to risk of taking the class because I fear it would be too advance for me. (both design and use of the software) I'd definitely buy your course if it ever becomes on-demand like the others, I just don't think I can take the full advantage of the full course right now.

Lazy ass autodesk this thing meant to be inside 3ds max long time ago by default. BTW are there any plugins for 3ds max like for example Mop booleans for Modo? in the modern days everybody wants fkn dents and cuts and cuts intersecting with ramps and extrudes in a very awkward nasty angles and places on the model, it's such a pain to do such things with 3ds max boolean tools(((

I can't find "Use selection center" to hotkey. Do you happen to know where to look?

Juan Pablo hey man, I'll be making a gumroad on design basics sometime this year I hope, the only reason I have not yet is because I don't want to intrude on the course, I may start planning it this month, but in currently taking time off of art this month to relax and live life.but! I will consider putting up a KZbin video on some subjects about design. A good place to start is avoiding evenness in as many things as you can, and use 70-30. I may make a video on it. Hope that's a somewhat helpful answer
