I'd love to see more of these resin comparisons. What currently is your favorite resin or mix of resins to use for miniatures?

I almost never subscribe to channels but this is a series I've been looking for that I'm amazed nobody else has done. If you are a company that thinks your resin is good i suggest sending this guy some because i was already shopping for resin and hes only 2 episodes in . Id also love you to do one on some water washable resin with the current IPA prices

Hey there. Gotta say I love your videos and the suggestions have been very helpful. I have a few suggestions for some improvements to these resin review videos. It would be great if they were more scientific. Tell us what print settings you have used and show us your dialed-in validation matrix. While it's awesome to also showcase new minis from the different sources (keep doing that) for resin review it would be much more useful to have one reference model you print out and photograph it under the same lighting conditions so we can see for ourselves the difference in print resolution & details. Having one resin review show a set of models outdoors on a rotating platform and the next is a close up of a completely different model being held in your hand indoors makes it hard to see how one resin compares to another. And while seeing you drop or throw minis is fun its not a very useful test of durability. I suggest either use a mini with a long weapon or just print out a tube and measure how much force it takes to snap it off, either by fixing it near the edge of the table and applying weights to it by a string or something and see how much weight until it snaps, or perhaps using a scale that measures how much force you can pull on it before breaking it off. This type of more repeatable approach will make these resin comparisons much more useful. Thanks again for the great videos and we need more Hotrod!

QUESTION for you on the Validation Matrix test - I spent a considerable amount of time testing those calibration rafts with 3 different gray resins (2 standard; 1 water washable) and found that WITH ALL 3 RESINS the 'ideal' exposure displayed on those test rafts was about 25%-30% UNDEREXPOSED when applied to an Amerilabs Skyline calibration part (which is closer to the miniatures we all want to print). In my tests (again, consistently across all 3 gray resins), the ideal exposure on the validation matrix resulted in loss of fine detail on the Amerilabs skyline (the space needle point was almost gone + less 'bristles' printed in the bristle array + other surface details were noticeably less crisp). Have you seen different results when comparing the validation matrix against the Amerilab skyline? Or, maybe I should ask: HAVE YOU compared the 2 different calibration units head-to-head like this? If not, that would be a good video I think. =) Thanks... =)

Thanks for that! I will get with the resin guru who created the matrix and get his take! Also, the Amerilab skyline is a great idea to use for comparison! Thanks for that!

Great vid as always. To get rid of the bubbles use a small torch to heat the resin up a bit and the bubbles will pop. Works great and no more bubbles.

@@erysonrodriguez8398 you don’t leave the torch on it for long. You just wave the torch over it and the bubbles will pop.

For those microbubbles, use a heatgun or hairdryer and they'll disappear in a second. Also your resin will be nice and warm.

Hey Garret (and HotRod) !! Nothing more reliable than the long hallway test 😋 Definitely an impeccable durability, sadly it's (still) hard to find in EU, we'll stay tuned. Also, glad you're bringing some light to fellow creators like our friends at One Page Rules ❤️ We're currently doing a Crossover with them this month ^_^

Thanks! I have heard you guys loud and clear and would love to test some resins available in the EU. Any suggestions you can send my way would be great!
@BiteTheBulletStudio3 жыл бұрын
@@3DPrintFarm Our personal suggestion would be ... any resin! As long as you use it to print one of our models ^_^ .. and then throw it down the hallway as hard as you can 😋 Regarding resins, we're quite old-fashioned and we don't want to risk it trying an unknown one, that's why videos like this are very useful, although I'm afraid we don't have any particular recommendation, we always use the same one (scared of change).

@@3DPrintFarm I am a bit overwelmed by this question because I often buy resins based on reviews on youtube videos I watch. To suggest them now is a totally new experience. Available (without problems) are: Sunlu Eryone Nova3d Geeetech Monocure 3d 3dJake And of course Elegoo, Anicubic and Esun. On top it would be nice to see some videos about Bio or Eco friendly Resin because of all the trash we prodouce with the supports. Thank you for your time, effort and all the great videos!!

That'd be great. So far in my month of owning a printer I've only tried the Anycubic Neutral Grey that came with my Photon S. The printer has a few defects, though, so I'm swapping it for a Mono X and now I'm not sure if I should change to some rapid curing Resin? The Anycubic resin so far gave a few great Epic 40k models with tiny details at 0.02 mm layers and a few chonky medium sized monsters (up to 80mm I'd guess) so I'd like similiar results, only faster - and less smelly if possible. If it's more expensive, okay. The Siraya Tech stuff is not currently available in Germany, though it seems it was sold here at one point - seems to be a distribution issue.
