If you're replacing your heatbed as part of the recall, Bambu Labs will require you to take 3 photos of your updated printer and send them in to receive your gift voucher. Some of those will need to be taken before you fully re-assemble your printer, so please check the email and/or ticket message that Bambu Labs will have sent you to confirm which images they require from you before starting this process. I wasn't able to confirm before posting this video that Bambu Labs was definitely requesting the same images from everyone (rather than varyinig the request slightly to prevent people from just copy and pasting other photos), and as a result didn't specify the photos in the video so as not to misinforrm people. Let me know if you have any issues, and happy printing!

@@BennyTygohome Glad it all went well and great work for taking the pictures. I did mean to include reminders in the video at the relevant points but both couldn't guarantee they would ask the same evidence from everyone (or if they'd vary it slightly to prevent everyone copying photos), and I also forgot until after I'd posted it haha. Happy printing :)

I did not take a photo, before and after. But, I have taken a photo side-by-side, you can see clearly, I have replaced the new A1 Bambu HeatBed! Calibrated, and now I am all ready to go! :)

Absolutely. I didn't talk about them in the tutorial as I couldn't at the time guarantee that Bambu was requesting the same images from everyone (rather than different sets for different people to avoid people copy and pasting from online) and didn't want to get people to take and send in the wrong images. Glad the video was useful. Thanks very much, and happy printing!

Well, the answer was on Bambu itself saying that printers before such time qualified, so newer ones must have the issue fixed, since I literally just saw it go back up for sale .... like 2 weeks ago i just cancelled my A1 Mini for some reason thinking the A1 was not actually out ... I went to reorder, and boom there it was ....
@3DRevolution3 ай бұрын
Sorry for the late reply. Yes absolutely, as you saw, the A1 was taken off of sale during the recall and it was only put back on sale when they had stock of the A1 fitted with the new heatbed. I'd imagine by now you've received yours, hope you're enjoying it!

Honestly, the best thing to come of this recall is that now if the heatbed were to fail on any unit, even after the warranty ends, there's video documentation on how to replace it. Right to Repair wins again, just like always.

At 8:15 I didn't pay attention to the "slide the bed to the back of the printer" and used the wrong screw holes. Everything worked, I did a calibration then a test print of Benchy. However after a few prints, I kept getting errors that the build plate was missing. I realized that those 4 securing screws I put in the wrong holes so the head bed was 1/4" too far forward. When I saw the head descend down to locate the plate tab, it just missed. As for pictures, bambu emailed back to get me to include my serial number in the shot, only then did they clear my recall message on my printer and process the credit. The manual heat-bed levelling procedure is missing from this instruction. While I ran the file suggested, I didn't watch the video showing the adjustment of the 3 levelling screws until there was a sheet of paper clearance between the head and the head bed without the plate, and the tightening the 2 lock bed screws. The balancing act of the printer on its side scared me, I guessed that it would slide off the box and damage the parts so I used a pillow.

If I ordered one last night, being that its almost 4AM EST ... And I haven't seen the A1 on the Bambu site, which made me hop to get it when I did .... Does that mean my printer will come with the new Heatbed already fixed? ... I didn't know about the recall, so trying to just find answers

As someone who just installed the new heat bed, I have a question for you. What should I do with the old heatbed, and is there a safe/proper way to dispose of it?
@3DRevolution3 ай бұрын
This is a good question and I have some thoughts on things people can do with them that I'm working on for a future video so I will revisit this topic. If you did want to get rid of it though, correct disposal methods would depend on where you are and your local services. But there's no dangerous materials or electronics in there, so would be the same process as disposing of a toaster or something like that.

I only want to ask, what are the best items to buy from discount we have got after the replacement? Heatbed Nozzle Wiper and Hotend with Nozzle 0.4mm as spare items? Anything else? I am not heavy printer but I know anything can break after some time, but I do not know the weak points of the 3D printers...
@3DRevolution3 ай бұрын
Hey there, sorry for the late reply. Assuming the A1 is the only Bambu Labs printer you have, I'd suggest getting a spare 0.4mm Hardened Steel nozzle, as well as a 0.2mm nozzle and either 0.6mm or 0.8mm. This will give you great flexibility when printing different things (If you're not sure the advantages of different size nozzles, I posted a recent video covering exactly that). Other than that, a spare nozzle wiper is good to have, and beyond that, it's difficult to tell what may be the next thing that needs replacing on the printer, so you'd be best spending the rest of your voucher on possibly an additional build plate, and then as much filament as the voucher will afford you. If you really only wanted to buy spares with the voucher, the next most perishable item in the A1 would be the belts, so you could invest in one of each of them. Hope that helps (if you've not already spent your voucher), and again, sorry for the late reply.

Thank you for the informative video. Do you know if the check by an electrically skilled person is required in the UK to get the voucher? Or this only in the EU?
@3DRevolution4 ай бұрын
You're welcome RE the video. No need for getting it checked over in the UK, this is only the EU. However, Bambu does require you to send them a set of pictures to prove that you've completed the bed replacement correctly before they issue the voucher. They should have sent you an email and/or ticket update letting you know what photos they wanted. I would have included it in the video but I'm not 100% sure it will be the same photos requested for everyone as they may vary it to prevent people just using other people's photos. For me it was a photo of the re-fitted ground cable, a photo of the sensor wires held down with tape, and a photo of the back of the printer with the end-stop fitted and the serial number QR code in frame.

Did anyone need to perform bed tramming after installing the new heatbed, or was there no need?
@Martas6683 ай бұрын
I skipped it... I only did quick bed leveling when printing something and it was ok.
@3DRevolution3 ай бұрын
I ran several test prints of different styles after recording this video to ensure it was printing well before editing and publishing it as I wanted to double check tramming wasn't required. I had presumed it wouldn't need it with the level of automated calibration it does anyway and it was fine for me. That said, I have seen a couple of people say they needed to do it, but I am not sure if that was a precautionary judgement on their part, or they found it to be necesary after experiencing issues. If enough people comment requesting a bed tramming tutorial, I'll make one and link to it in the video description.
@llmgmll4 ай бұрын
And why don't you show the manual bed levelling?
@3DRevolution3 ай бұрын
I'm guessing you mean bed tramming. Well I had assumed that it wouldn't be necesary as a result of the level of callibration it does when running full calibration. However I didn't want to just publish a tutorial based on an assumption, so I ran and completed several prints checking everything ran fine after replacing the bed before editing and publishing this video, and it worked perfectly. I didn't want to add another step for people to work through if it wasn't necesary so didn't include it as a section in this video. I've had a couple of people ask if it's necesary, but I don't think I've had anyone yet say that they found it was necesary.

It's more flexible so better suited to the task, I think it was the right decision. They could have absolutely replaced it with a natively braded cable, but this is a method they'd already employed with the Z/Y axis cable, and so it's already been heavily tested. If they switched to a whole new design, they'd be introducing a realtive unknown, so this was the safer option for both them and the consumers.
