3rd Gen 4runner heater core backflush

My 4runner wasn't blowing hot, and it was overheating. I decided to backflush my heater core using a toilet supply line, 10 foot of clear hose, and a male hose connection. Don't be like me. Buy a female hose connection and it will be much easier, and have a 5gal bucket handy.

No need to have the heater knob/slider set to high. In your case, you have the supply line removed from the heater control valve, which is what the knob opens/closes.

@@MessyBunGarage that's awesome. Thanks for the response. My truck doesn't overheat , but it runs hotter than normal and I noticed I don't get heat, so I'll start here 👍

@@joshhayler9342 yes! It was totally clogged. I can't say I use the heater often in AZ, but after back flushing and burping the system really well, it was better. I took it up north on several steep grades and the dash needle never moved. I monitor my temps with the Android Torque Pro app and it does warm up on the steep climbs but was never alarming or out of the ordinary. Around town, it stays at 194 to 195. 👍
