3rd Generation Subaru Outback (2005-2009) Airbag Light Error Fix

Your airbag light on the dash may be on, even though there is nothing actually wrong with your airbags! If one of the SRS LED status lights in your overhead console is out, your airbag error light will turn on.
I do not know if that actually prevents your airbags from deploying, but it certainly is annoying and disconcerting.
Note that your overhead console might look a little different, based on model year and car options, but the overall principles still apply. (Shown on a 2006 with sunroof.)
***NOTE: in addition to touching up the solder at the wires, also check the three flat black elements on the board. The solder there may show cracks and needs to be reflowed!
Time needed for repair: about an hour
Tools needed:
Phillips head screwdriver
Digital multimeter (for testing continuity)
Soldering iron

I hit all the connections on that PCB with some Flux and a solder and the warning light went off. Thanks!

The bad solder joints are at those 3 black square resistors. I've fixed dozens of these permanently

This is SPOT ON! There were a number of times that the Airbag light came back on after a few months, and I would redo the solder, but only recently noticed that there were small cracks in the solder at those three black elements (diodes? not sure...)

How do I know if this is the issue? My airbag light is on and the passenger seat light is on. I replaced the seat and no changes

This is a super duper common issue that's easy to try.

It's a common issue. If you don't see the center "Passenger Airbag" LED on in the overhead display, this is the issue.
