OMG!!! I have been putting up with this for the past year. Today I went to pick up something and it wouldn't fit because I couldn't get that seat down. I said enough is enough. I was getting ready to take it to my mechanic and then I came across this video. It totally worked. It's as good as new now. I"m not even that great with tools, I'm a computer guy but I was able to do this and put it all back together in about an hour. I can't say thanks enough to you guys!!!!!!

I have an '07 Tahoe and the rear passenger side seat has been stuck in the up position for the past few years. I've been online searching for a fix about 10 times, leaving me frustrated and still with the stuck seat. After I watched your video, I had it out within 10-15 minutes - you're a lifesaver and just wanted to thank you again for posting.

Thank you so much for your patience while making this how to video. After your video, everything you said and alluded to was accurate. I will say this, make sure the small lever that is being pushed down under the plastic cover has the small spring attached on BOTH ends. In my instance, the hook that attaches to both ends of the spring had become detached on one end. Thus the lever needed to fold the seat down would not engage.

Great video. Was planning on taking the other seat apart to see where the actuators were. You saved me a ton of time and headache. Spent more time getting the plastic hinge covers off than fixing it. Wish there had been something about those.

Thanks for getting me on the right track. I did what said but the seat still wouldn't fold. The folding latched was jammed in the downward position and no matter how hard I pulled up on it, it wouldn't budge. That's I got frustrated, took a knife and cut the other covering off the folding latch side. I saw the bolt thing was inside or a curved groove. Took my screw driver and manually tried to push it, wouldn't give a inch. Took my flash light and saw a crevices where that bolt looking thing was connected to. Took a flat head screw driver and placed it on the bolt thing that the latch controls, took a hammer and gave it a tap and BAM, the seat folded instantly. I fill like such a man now. Lol. (For those who are lost, tried explain it the best way I could. Had to b there).

Thank you Jamal Jamal!! Your info worked!!! I didn't cut the covering but I pulled the plastic apart as far as I could get it, used the flash light to find the bolt looking thing, hit it with the screwdriver/hammer, and IT WORKED!!!!!! It had been stuck for months! Thank you!

Awesome video dude! You just saved me roughly $600. My local Chevy Dealership quoted me $600 just to take 1/2 of the 3rd Row Seat Out (the 1/2 that wouldn't fold down). After today I said enough was enough, I sharpened my knife and got the hammers ready because I was about to hammer that SOB out of there rather than pay $600. I came across your video and after about an hour and a half I had the seat out. I bet I could grease it up to fix the issue and get it put back together and even sell it now. You could have just made me money! Ha Ha Ha. Thank you so much for the video dude.

gonna give this a shot. think my problem is the aftermarket plastic mats that I bought from the gm store causing some kind of interference.

Paul. That sometimes happens. You could simple cut those mats to fit around the mounts for your third row. Just a thought. Thanks for watching.

We are having this exact problem, but our Tahoe is an 06. Will this work for ours? I need to go pick up a new treadmill, and now the seat suddenly doesn't want to fold down, it worked fine until now. So frustrating.

What if your seat won’t come back up? What can you do in that situation. I have a 2007 suburban and the third row seat won’t come back up at all now.

One of the 3rd row seats in my 2009 Tahoe LS won't latch.. The front goes into place and when I let the back of seat down the latch won't latch...After further inspection I now see the rear latch on both sides are closed and will not open so when I drop seat to latch into groove it won't latch because the latch is already in closed position.... I've tried WD-40 and prying them open with no luck... Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for your time.

Hey Lindsey! Unfortunately, we are just a manufacturer of replacement leather seat covers for Trucks and SUV's. I don't have any seat here for the Villager :/. Sorry about that!
