@@willfixit5346 I am currently having an electrical issue with a 2003 suburban. It acted like it was starving for fuel and quit starting. I had taken off the throttle body and cleaned it right after getting it and it ran fine for just over a year now. This time I decided to change it out but that didn't work. I found an issue with one of the contact wires for one of the injectors so I am trying to locate why and where the problem is now. If you have any suggestions please feel free to speak up. Patients is getting very thin at this point lol.

GR8 info been turning a wrench for 50 years/Master ASE cert & getting back into it now. Had not worked on a 4.2 & needed to know about the intake removal, pulling the heads on one. On them thermostats I had been punching a 1/8 hole in them if they didn't have an air bleed. Punching with an awl over a small socket because the SS is too hard to drill. It will actually make the engine run 10 degrees cooler don't recommend it if one lives in the north. Because it takes like 30 min to get to 180 degrees & in the south it will be less likely one will stick a T stat. By the way you do things looks like you worked with some good old school mechs. Thanks for the GR8 vid.

Actually I removed thermostat completely because I live in Florida and it's not really going to be cold enough to use one on the motor.

Actually, the short runners are for high RPM, and the long runners are used during low RPM to create torque.

The Ford Windsor is in reference to V8 engines that were produced in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. In the early 1900's Henry Ford built a large factory near the city of Windsor just across the Detroit river from Detroit Michigan. This factory was known as Ford City and included a town to house the 14,000 workers employed by the factory. In the 1950's Ford closed most of the factory except for the engine plants that continue to this day. Windsor, Illinois is a small town with a population of 1,100.

Yes the pushrod 3.8L, 3.9L, and 4.2L Essex Canada v6s from 1981-2007 use the same bellhousing pattern as all small block Ford pushrod engines. No the 3.9L and 4.2L are not the same, but all 3 displacements use the same bore, but different stroke.

I 2nd this. If I had the time I'd be all over fixing up my dad's old '01. He did last year and it's been sitting since 2017 as is. I started it the other day after putting fresh gas and she fired right up. There's some issues though and it all points to vacuum leaks.

They make a replacement water outlet for the intake. Mine had a pinhole leak and I had to replace the outlet tube. After removing the old tube i I heated the intake in a stove and froze the the water outlet over night and it dropped right in and was water tight once both parts reached temperature equilibrium.

Dam good job...... I had it al off. @ so called friend drop something in head. Went too start locked up statter...now a hard dead miss and back firing. Lean bank 2 o2 1. Cat was stopped up. ..I unclogged it.... change all spark pulgs.. then really started backfiring... brunt up starter new 1 changed 2 times... in checking all lifters now wondering if I should pull heads off. I have a set of 4.2 going too be reworked @ surfaced. Changed alot of sensors tps. Fuel tank pressure, egr senor, coil pack. Good 93 octane gas. Seafoam clean everything...taking it all down now. @ changeing. Bank 1. To find what every fell when I went backwards with pipe wrench I heard it fall either oil pan or exhaust
@willfixit53469 күн бұрын
@garywarner827 it probably got wedged in one of those valves, and hopefully, the piston is OK. Things like that can happen. Believe me out here doing this stuff every day you have ups and downs. I hope you are able to get it repaired without having to replace the engine. System bank lean codes are typically due to vacuum leaks or too much EGR btw ✌️✌️✌️

I’m having a leak in bank 2 . I can see the coolant leaking on the floor and also getting a imrc code, so I’m sure this is my problem. My question is what is making my truck smell like gas when idling. It smells really bad and has a super rough idle
@nFlames2 Жыл бұрын
Coolant leaking on the driveway or on the floor board? Smell like gas when idling smells really bad and has a rough idle. Could be a vacuum leak making the engine run lean. Bank 2 is driver's side pull spark plugs on that side ck & see if they are ok. Ck compression on driver side, I'm working on one that had no pressure on one cylinder runs the same way it has a bad valve. Here is a vid I found that my help you. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pGWmn4qimspgpqc

I just did a coolant flush on mine, I left the cap off and was trying tog et the air out of the heater core, but it wasn't happening. I found the officiial method and it said to leave the d-gas bottle cap on. and that worked The system gets the air out on it's own, but it needs pressure to do it, so you need to keep that cap on. Otherwise when it gets warm, the pressure shoots the coolant out of the d-gas bottle instead of pushing the air out.
