I purchased a 2018 Toyota Camry LE and it has 63,000 miles on it from the Toyota dealership and it’s a CPO even with the high miles. They offered me a good price and the engine starts right up and runs smooth. My only regrets is that I didn’t notice it didn’t have a CD Player or Satellite radio.. I personally don’t put a lot of miles on cars, I work from home and I live in a small town that has everything I need. My question is with the initial high miles, do you think at a later date will this bite me in the but especially if things change and I have to start driving in. Also what maintenance should I get done at 75 or 100k so it will stick around a while.

I saw this advice. In looking for a high mileage, majority hwy miles vehicle, rock chips and paint damage on front facing surfaces can be a good sign. Also look at the brake pedal, and if little or no wear on the pedal surface, that’s a good sign of mostly hwy miles. If the brake pedal looks worn, lots of stops and goes.
@Au60schild2 жыл бұрын
Dealerships that take used cars in trade on new cars know enough to swap out the old rubber on the brake pedal for a new one. It's used auto schyster 101. If. It's brand new in appearance on a 50k - 60k mileage car or truck assume that it's been replaced.

Turned out to be a relay switch and someone I know was able to fix it for me pretty cheap. Over 2 years later with almost 260k miles it's still running strong. Last tune up the dealership said that it's in really good shape despite the miles. I paid very little for a car that was almost 30k new and I can probably get 500k miles out of it. When looking for my first car, I skipped the Hondas and Toyotas because “they cost too much for what you get”. For $1,500 I could either get a late 90’s or early 2000’s Civic/Corolla that had paint chipping/fading, and stains on the seats, or a 2005 Chevy Malibu with a perfect interior and paint job..... I should have went with the Hondas because that Chevy broke down 3 times after I owned it for only 5 months.

Our '06 Camry has the 2.4L and 143K miles on it. Everything still works. Shifts smooth and we just put 850 miles on it this weekend. Didn't use a drop of oil and got a shade over 34 MPG (which is their original estimate!) doing 70-80 MPH. AC is ice cold, heater will roast you out, and the only negative is the crappy rear window radio antenna only picks up stations when you're within eyesight of the tower. But the CD player still works great. I do all of the service work in the driveway and it's the easiest car I've ever worked on. The plastic tabs that hold the ignition coil wires to the coils themselves snapped off (all 4 of them) due to heat over time, but I think the plastic beauty cover's Scotty is always laughing at holds everything in place, seeing that ours still has the cushion underneath and it still looks pristine. No leaks, everything original other than plugs, filters, etc., except I did swap out tie rod ends before the trip. Struts are worn but it doesn't bounce even on crappy Oklahoma highways filled with patched potholes. I used some AT-205 on the suspension bushings and other than the slight clunkiness of the worn struts, it's still pretty smooth. I fully expect to still be driving this car when it rolls over 300K, or I die, which is more likely to happen than the Camry crapping out on us.
