I remember they seemed to find the DVD commentaries pretty boring, cos they could only talk about what was happening directly in the scene in front of them. The beauty of the podcast is they spend maybe 3 minutes talking about the actual episode and the other 40 is long hilarious tangents, and it’s very clear that that’s what’s most fun for them, and is therefore more fun for the audience.

I feel that It's Always Sunny and Trailer Park Boys the Canadian produced show on Netflix have a lot in common. On the surface they are opposites. IASIP are Sociopaths who think they are normal. TPB are criminals who are normal nice people deep deep down. But in every other way the similarities are eeeily the same. Like IASIP, TPB (the first full-on North American TV mockumentary which was even before UK Office) is a smaller production with a huge cult following that is still going after 25 years without any real backing and support from Hollywood (TPB making Season 13 right now but have 5 theatricals, 7 specials, 4 spinoffs, 2 shorts, 450 and counting podcasts in character, etc) are both long running TV shows that are driven soley by their fanships. Where the main actors are the producers and writers (Ricky and Julian who wrote on every single episode). Netflix just pays the Boys to stream the finished product and put Netflix Original on it. Both have similar episode storylines, both have song opening credits that have very soothing music before the storm of the show that is about to hit you, both have a character that with every encounter with the main characters devolve spiritually and physically with each encounter (Sam first vs Cricket), both have one of the main characters dressed up in full body Green Custume (Green Man vs the original Green Bastard). Both hilarious but not for everybody, etc. In an early interview around 2007-ish the IASIP cast were asked about TPB and they said even though they heard good things about it they claimed having never saw it at that point. I believe them. But the 2 productions have a lot in common even though they have completely opposite agendas.

I like the format of episode by episode but I would also love to see them do episodes dedicated to running gags or recurring characters…. Like the evolution of the characters spitting out “you bitch” at Dee or the steady degeneration of Rickety Cricket, or Dennis’ development into a complete sociopath/sex predator.

Yeah, that's Keanu Reeves' entire career.

I don't blame Rob for using the name Sweet Dee. Had it been Tom Morello's love of his life that tragically perished in a violent unsolved crime type situation and Tom Morello had brought Rob to her grave and he read "Sweet Dee" on the grave stone and Tom Morello would have started crying when Rob said it out loud. Then it would have been inappropriate to use the name for one of his goofy characters.

Charlie Joins A Metal Band A touring band's lead singer suffers an unfortunate accident and the remaining band members, who happen to be patronizing Paddy's pub, overhear Charlie belt out some powerful high pitched vocals and are convinced he's the replacement they need for their upcoming show. Dennis becomes jealous and outraged that they would pick Charlie over him, and being the golden god that he is, tries to outshine Charlie in the eyes of the band but only ends up embarrassing himself. Mac and Dee plot together to become band groupies even though none of the band members have any interest in them. Frank immediately tries to hone in as Charlie's manager, trying to squeeze as much money and as many perks from the band as possible. Charlie is initially reluctant to take the opportunity but Mac, Dee, and Frank encourage him, mostly because Mac and Dee want to be band groupies and bang all the members and Frank thinks he can swindle a lot of money out the band and related opportunities like band merch including T-shirts, licorice flavored condoms(there was a deal), and Egg. Dennis, overcome with resentment, tells Charlie he will fail and that he is far too weird and illiterate to ever succeed in any remotely normal venture and will bomb and fail and fail and bomb!!! A practice of the band trying to teach Charlie the songs reveals growing tension between the members regarding the inclusion of Charlie who not only can't read but is reduced to a screaming fit from the pressure of trying to sing along with the band, who in turn improvise a song along with Charlie's shrieks. Defeated, Charlie retreats to his apartment to get high on glue and paint and is discovered by Frank who confronts Charlie about giving up,(not wanting to lose out on his investment idea) Frank reassures and inspires Charlie to follow through and gets him all fired up with a speech about grabbing life by the balls and taking opportunities when they come, Frank then goes over every song with Charlie until he learns them all. The night of the big show, Frank's unofficial merch booth along with it's unconventional items revealed, With Dennis commenting on the absurdity of the items he's trying to sell. Mac and Dee look for Charlie to find him huddled in a corner nervously eating a block of cheese, Dressed in denim and leather, the outfit provided for him by the band. Mac and Dee start to chastise Charlie, accusing him of Sabataging the only good thing to happen to them, when Dennis suddenly stops them and in an apparent sudden change of heart, tells Charlie how wrong he was and that Charlie will do great, and offers him a beer to help calm his nerves. Charlie, struck by Dennis's sudden change and unexpected support, gratefully accepts the beer and chugs it down and with renewed confidence goes on stage to perform with the band. Charlie takes the stage and confidently belts out "PHILADELPHIA!!!! ARE YOU READY TO ROOOOOOCKKKK!?!!?!?!!!!?" The band starts up their first song and just as it gets to the part where the vocals start, Charlie begins puking profusely, in multiple directions towards the audience and the band. There is some confusion as the music stops and Charlie continues puking and wretching. Cut to Dennis, Dee, Mac, and Frank watching, Dee casually and unsurprised says to Dennis, "you poisoned him didn't you?". Dennis simply stands with a satisfied grin on his face. Charlie's wretches are continuing in the background. Mac says to Frank "Well, I guess that's it for your merch idea" Frank replies, "Whaddya mean? I already made a killing!" Then Mac, Dee, and Dennis share a confused look, then cut to Charlie, finally finishing his vomiting, looks out at a stunned and silent crowd only to be pelted by dozens of raw eggs bought from Franks merch stand. Hope you enjoyed my halfbaked Sunny plot. Thanks for the years of laughter.

I’m not sure if that’s the world’s best Keanu Reaves impression or the world’s worst Steve-O impression…

I would love it if the guys used a Thrice song for the podcast... Like Deadbolt or Identity Crisis!

Guys c'mon, off the top of my head i instantly remembered the character of Johnny Utah played at Ohio State. The writing wasn't THAT bad lmao.. Although even as a kid around 6 or 7 years old i saw the trailer for it on a VHS (Used to be like 3 or 4 trailers at the beginning of VHS movies) and i thought it was cheesy. And this was a new release! Not like i was a kid born in 2001 and saw the trailer, this was in 92 or 93 when it 1st came out.

I enjoy the thought of Charlie thinking about a young audience like 15 episodes later he wouldn't be talking about how great doing shrooms under a tarpaulin was.

I know that Charlie was making a reference to My Private Idaho but in Point Break Keanu Reeves's character is actually from Ohio (or at least, was a star quarterback at the Ohio State University) and this matters to me because I am from Ohio
