I stayed in this primitive woodland bushcraft shelter for a few days, foraging, sleeping on deer hides and sheep skins, with my dog Amber. Using a wood stove, I was able to cook food and keep the shelter warm which was well needed as the temperature plummeted during the nighttime. At one point it even started snowing!

@@ancienttofo6038 You CAN live without a mobile, TOFO. I do it perfectly well. Remember that we ALL had to pre 1988, before they were invented, and we can CHOOSE to be that way again. No-one forces us to use one. It's all psychological dependency, like believing we HAVE TO BE on social media. We don't.

OK, I'm a regular subscriber, Dustin, but, after watching this episode a few times, it dawns on me on why I'm so drawn to your web series. It's not just your incredible bushcraft skills, your knowledge, your awesome, creative cooking ability or even the amazing Bushcraft Wonder Dog Amber (ok, I'm a sucker for a lovely dog)! I get a kick outta your love of bushcrafting, camping, cooking outdoors and not only sharing it with your dog, but all of us armchair primitive campers. Don't doubt that you (and your colleagues) have gotten many of us around the globe through the lingering pandemic, but given us pause to really seriously think of ourselves and our impact on the world and our fellow inhabitants. Thanks so much, Dustin! You're a terrific, inspiring young man! This is long, but I hope you find the time to read it.

Assuming all was well. I have a dog very similar build as Amber. Mixed breed, often called Mountain Cur. As the United States was being settled, pioneers often had mix breed dogs like Mountain Curs. Good companions but often helped in hunting and general protection of family members. Your meals looked delicious, funny about the canned beans and sausage for your last evening's meal.☺ Also enjoyed the tidbits of nature you shared, along with the bits of bush craft. Would greatly appreciate much more of your knowledge shared with us. Keep up the good work! Sincere Regards!

You kept talking about how cold it was at night and how your dog got cold. Why didn't you collect some of the pine tree limbs with greenery and cover the entrance to your shelter and I'm sure your stove would have kept you and the dog warm. Just a thought.

I love your adventures, especially when Amber is along! My precious dog was ( she passed away in May 2021 at 13yrs) a Rottweiler/pitbull mix who liked to sleep exactly in the center of my bed. She is missed terribly.

Only problem is it is illegal to wild camp in England, although if your in a remote part of the woods no one is there to enforce it so it’s not that bad tbh

@@nhafxd450 basicalky all land In Britain is privately owned so permission is required if you want to wild camp or anything. It's illegal to wild camp anywhere except Scotland, and Dartmoor in South England, but it is tolerated everywhere if you are well away from roads or paths, and adhere to the wild camping rules of leave no trace etc. Done plenty of wild camping In England with no bother. Especially from bears and wolves 🤣

Great video! I know that sweet fur baby of yours worships you. She watches everything you do and doesn't miss a beat. She loves to get in your lap, she is spoiled to that but that's okay, she deserves to be spoiled. She is a very good companion, I can see that you love her dearly. 🐕

The pain and heartbreak you get when a dog dies is far outweighed by the love and companionship you receive while they are with you. But I know how you feel.

@@matthewhamstead4085 in my case it was not that Sally died it was that due to G-B Syndrome I was not able to take care of her and had to give her to my sister who was a breeder of dogs and sally was too old to breed so she in turn gave her away to I hope a good home...at least I can walk now and have control of my hands …they tell me that I am an anomaly because G-Bs is a disease of the young I was 62 when it almost killed me.. I was nearly two weeks in intensive care and another three months in rehab... Sally was gone before I got to return home...no one thought I would ever walk again... I lack the stamina to hike in the woods and fish the streams but I continue to do my own cooking and live thru others like this gentleman here on youtube ...so I continue
