I have no idea what I have but mine is a seedling from Virginiafruitgrower! Bishop Citrumelo 👍is a great name, along with the citrandarin from Alan which is improved as well. Plant your seeds people!

@@raregrowsNJ If yours is from Virginia Fruit Grower, it's probably equal to or better than our North Carolina strain! I like the name too, it gives him the credit he deserves for discovering and sharing these improved varieties. Like you say, it's a huge testament to the potential that lies in seed-grown trees!!

My Swingle has larger more lemon shape to them too. They also taste better to me then any other Citrumelo I have had. I did find a smaller round one this year that had much more Tri taste to it.

@@sweethomealabamahomestead4504 Your strain of Swingle does look quite good! I definitely think the smaller Swingle citrumelos are more concentrated, but not in a good way. The Bishop citrumelo was about 25% larger than the largest Swingle I've had here in NC, and it had a much better taste.

So what do you guys think? Improved Swingle or Bishop Citrumelo for the name of the best-tasting Swingle of the group? Dingle Citrumelo is non-negotiable, sorry 😂. Edit: After some discussion with Alan Bishop himself, we came to the conclusion to name this improved Swingle the "Iva Swingle Citrumelo". This helps avoid confusion with the Bishop citrandarin and also gives information on the origin of the seedling - Iva, South Carolina. I hope everyone gets an opportunity to grow this excellent citrumelo in the future!

Bishop seems appropriate. It could help spread the name around a little, leading someone to find the Citrandarin or vice versa.

@drewsample9610 Good point actually! Thank you.

Dingle citrumelo 😂 I think you created a basis for its commercialization. I’d buy it out of curiosity if I saw “dingle” citrumelos in a produce stand lol. Just tried my 1st citrumelo (Dunstan) and really enjoyed it. For me it had notes of mango and pineapple and followed up by grapefruit and a hint of herbal. Wasn’t expecting those flavors. Didn’t have much bitterness that I could detect, very unique. That bishop citrumelo seems intriguing.

@@farleyschmackums Haha, I'm glad you would buy the Dingle if you saw one 😂 That's a very interesting experience with Dunstan but I could see how you detected some tropical flavors. Occasionally they come out like in US-1279 which had a mango flavor in addition to the orange/mandarin. If you liked Dunstan, you will like the Bishop citrumelo.

What is the Monticello Citrumelo that @citruspalmswithtom has?
@themulberriesАй бұрын
@@jeremiahedwards2073 I'm not sure actually, I have to double check but I believe it's parents and origin are somewhat unknown.
