Dr. Youn, are you getting kickbacks from Ozempic? I can't believe what I'm hearing you say. I'm a nurse and also currently a med student. No only have I had to deal with patients who are suffering from serious side effects but I am personally watching people who I work with everyday at the hospital are suffer from terrible Ozempic side effects. And YES the majority of them have Ozempic face. SMH. I'm so disappointed in you.

A woman in Australia died a horrible death from these medications, that she used for weight loss. 60 minutes Australia covered the story. Other doctors have pointed out the dangers of using these bc the studies that were done were to see the affect on diabetes for a short term period not longer term use when diabetes was not present. As this "quick fix" has become viral many people who have taken this for it's intended use have said that when they stop taking it the cravings are so bad that they often gain the weight back. You have covered this topic before and in your comment section people who have used it have warned of its side effects etc. I'm really surprised by this sudden turn in opinion on the misuse of a dangerous substance.

@@higherrealmholistics As a person in the healthcare field who might independently treat patients one day, I'm disappointed in you for not properly listening and comprehending what he said. The Dr. is being very factual about the realities of this medication. He's just trying to educate people because, with his years of experience, he knows it is not going anywhere. So, he'd rather have a discussion than let people believe it is a miracle drug. Also, what proof do you have from any research, studies or other peer reviewed publications that Ozempic changes your facial features in a different way than regular weight loss? Since you're a nurse and med student, surely you can explain by what mechanism the drug affects the face in a specific way.

I think it does matter if they lie because if they say "I lost tons of stubborn weight only with cutting out soda", then the average person is going to be hugely disappointed when they cut out soda and don't see the same results, and blame themselves for not being good enough even though they tried. It leads to lots of self hate and confusion. It's not necessarily anyone's business how a celeb lost weight, but I don't think they should lie and give people the wrong idea about how to obtain the same results.

I mean that’s not really fair. Just because cutting down on soda works for one person (it definitely helped me a lot), that doesn’t necessarily mean someone else is gonna get the same results. That’s the other problem is that people think what works for one person will work for them, and not taking into account that the person may have a different body type, different medical conditions, different metabolism, etc, etc.

That's on them. Cutting out soda is not trying. Sure, it's helpful but it's not a real effort so why should any of them feel confused. Weight loss and keeping normal weight means a change in lifestyle- not a quick diet. Diet means a life long lifestyle. It's not starving, not depriving yourself of anything BUT there needs to be some real efforts to make these changes. It's so easy to make excuses and act like it's done to you not done by you when you are overweight/obese or don't lose weight.

Weight gain is associated with a long list of medical diseases and conditions. The resistance exercise, intermittent fasting with consistent intake of protein, drink8ng water, caloric restriction, yoga, etc., are still needed to maintain the weight loss and to maintain muscle mass over time whether one is seeking to lose weight or not. The meds help suppress appetie and cravings only.

It matters. Challenging work of any kind, fasting, and sacrifices you make for others without expecting anything in return changes your brain and makes you a better and stronger person. I have a feeling he doesn't provide services for too many of those so he wouldn't know what he's talking about. Taking it long-term affects the body's ability to heal itself. Any process or procedure, including medications that give fast results without putting in the work in is bad for you. Change should be gradual. Otherwise, heart problems may occur. If that's not a primary concern over your vapid need to feel pretty look at their eyes and how sunken they are. Their skin is hanging off their bones, and their faces aged an additional 10 years in such a short time. The reason why ozempic isn't FDA approved for weight loss is that there hasn't been enough long term studies for organ failure and its increased likelihood for thyroidism.

My doctor said that she thought I’d do well on it, but she told me that I’d never get them to approve it because I am too healthy. Don’t get me wrong: I have lots of things wrong with me. I lost weight fast and was back down to my high school size and still the same height but everyone around me told me my face looked skeletal. I compared a current picture of my face now to when I was the same weight back is high school and I definitely looked skeletal. It’s because I lost weight so fast, your skin doesn’t have time to slowly settle into the new shape, causing the horrifying Ozempic face. It definitely happened to me and I got off it right away and my face went back to normal once I gained 10lbs back

@RTCPhotoWork
@RTCPhotoWork 3 ай бұрын
In addition to it being from rapid weight loss, what you described is also due to aging. As we age, there are fewer/smaller fat deposits in our face. We can be heavier than our 18 year old self by 10-15 pounds but have our face look close to the same. If we weigh the same or less than our youthful self, our faces WILL look more gaunt than when we were younger. So, that's two things at play in your story and probably in the "Ozempic face" examples we see in celebrities (whose examples are probably made more extreme because of use of cosmetic procedures like fillers on high points and lips).

Its bc these celebs had plastic surgery on their face and plastic surgery become way more obvious and sometimes doesnt look the best when you lose weight rapidly. But like its scary how easily you can get prescribed wegovy, i was approved for it after like 20 minutes on my phone back when j was 150lbs (im 5'2 for reference). Luckily lifestyle changes helped me lose 20 lbs this year. And i dont mean diet and excersize alone, i mean i changed my routine and way i lived my life so i could more easily avoid over eating and not being active.

Its crazy that these celebs don't tell people they are taking weight-loss drugs, because I tell all my family and friends I'm taking Semaglutide. Its not a shameful thing to take a medication for a chronic health issue, and its helped so many people. It doesn't matter how you get there as long as you get there.

It matters when celebrities who influence young people are lying and making their lives out to be something it’s not which then leads to all sorts of issues in these young people who think they should be just like them. That’s why it matters. No one cares that they’re fat or skinny really, what we really wanna know is the truth behind it.

It's not because of the med that people gain the weight back but because they overindulge themselves and overeat after they stop thanking the medication. That's a lack of accountability, blaming the med.

I think if your not a diabetic you should be taking Ozempic. Lots of people are asking their doctors to prescribe it for them. It matters because these same people will say they did “x” diet, “y” exercise routine, “z” fad to lose all that weight, and people will believe that. Then, those people will be devastated that it didn’t work for them, but the celebrities won’t say anything about that.

It's only stupid and ignorant that seek guidance in places like this. They don't put any effort into getting healthier. Are celebrities doctors? Since when are they dieticians or have to disclose their private information? It's the people that are the issue not the celebrities. It's one of the excuses, blaming the wrong people for their lack of accountability and failures.
