"Make comics for yourself." Thank you. I think that's the most powerful and motivating statement I've heard about making a comic so far. If the story makes me happy, I'm gonna tell it. Maybe it will make someone else happy, too.

I'm glad to hear that it resonated with you! :)

Agreed! If I'm not a fan of my own creation, I am less likely to want to finish it or make sure it has quality. Plus, there will always be someone out there who likes your creation just as much as you do. If it exists, there's a fanbase for it, even if the fanbase is small or haven't discovered your work yet lol.
@jilliancrawford7577 Жыл бұрын
My advice: don't worry about not having a fanbase. Similar to Rule 34: if it exists, there's a fanbase for it. No matter what your webcomic is about or how "good/bad" it is or even what changes you may make, there will always be people out there who will like it! I think there's a sense of comfort in that. The fanbase in question may or may not be massive, but even 1 (not counting yourself) is more than 0. If you know there's someone out there that'll like whatever you end up doing, it takes away a lot of fear of making something nobody will like. Obviously this doesn't mean it's okay to make universally/objectively illegal and immoral content, just that you don't need to be afraid to experiment, try something unusual or do something you want that's more unconventional. Just be sure you publish at the appropriate sites for what their ToS allows and what you're making lol.

What a great video! Thanks for this. I just launched a webcomic and found this very valuable. Both for webcomics or any long-form comics project. A lot of this would apply to graphic novels as well. And that whole Sub View thing! I've been using CSP for years and never found that. I'm going to share this with my comics buddies. :D

Ok so, I’ll be starting my Webtoon soon but the thing is that about to start college and I don’t know if I would have time for both things, I would like to make updates every week…but I’m not sure I could
@simondrawsstuff Жыл бұрын
Here's what to do (in my opinion): Start making the webtoon now, but don't post it yet. As you you start college, and your schedule changes, continue to try and make the webtoon, but don't stress about it if you don't have time for it or aren't able to make progress as fast as you want to. Once you have managed to settle into a routine that accomodates both the webtoon and college, figure out how fast you can produce an update in a healthy way (not pulling late nights or neglecting other parts of your life like college, socializing or exercising for it). Maybe it's going to take you a week like you're hoping, maybe it's going to be two weeks, maybe even more. It doesn't really matter how frequent it is, so long as you are confident you can stick to it in a sustainable and consistent way. I would say that readers generally value regular updates in a clearly communicated schedule more than a high frequency of irregular updates. By then, you'll also have already built up a backlog of updates that you can fall back upon when life deviates from your routine (it will happen). Ideally, that's going to be at least 10 updates. Feel free to build up an even bigger backlog before you start posting if it helps you feel more confident you can stick to your planned schedule. Falling back on an intended schedule can happen - and while it's perfectly okay for something you are doing for free and for fun, it can still have a discouraging effect. That's why I would recommend the steps described above to try and make that less likely to happen.

@@simondrawsstuff Ok so, I already started drawing and im almost done with episode one (like 10 panels to done and it’s 70 panels) I’ll try to make up to 15 or 20 episodes before posting it so I guess I could post it maybe next year or something

Excellent lessons! May I ask? I read from KZbin that, for the speech bubble or quotation, I MUST USE ONLY CAPITAL LETTERS. In your samples you use Title case and normal sentences. It looks much better and feel natural. Thanks,
@simondrawsstuff Жыл бұрын
Honestly, it's a stylistic choice. Some comics use capital letters, some don't. Whichever you prefer is fine.

If I want to use clip studio oaint what spec of Laptop should I use?? Or is a desktop is recommended??
@otaku-chan4888 Жыл бұрын
A laptop is more than enough for clip studio paint! The source is me : ) In fact, having a desktop might be _worse,_ because they aren't portable. With a laptop, you can carry it around with your drawing tablet and make art anywhere. You don't need a very high spec laptop. You don't _need_ windows, or apple, or a specific brand. But making sure you have enough pc memory and storage space to run whatever art program you use will save you a lot of frustration. I use a windows laptop with 8 GB ram, and a storage space of over 100 GB is pretty basic and should get you by just fine. One word of caution, however- if you're dreaming big and want to use complicated 3D models to improve the quality of your art and backgrounds, then you'll definitely need a higher spec laptop. 16 GB ram, NVIDIA graphics card and an i7 processor (basically gamer laptop specs) seems to be the minimum for this sort of work to go smoothly.

can’t you just adjust the file size to match need, and then download each image separately. And then put the together on the canvas later??
