My 4 Link Setup with Slicks & Slicks without Squat for Drag Racing suspension tuning on the 48 Ford Coupe.
Subscribe: kzbin.info...
Follow along as I show you the exact 4 link plot and shock and coil spring installed heights and more key drag suspension tuning tips to improve 60 foot times.
This video is the second of several showing you how we scale drag cars with custom blocks to allow us to raise the car to a known height to measure all 4 link bolts to the ground (4 link plotting), crank centerline, ride height, pinion angle, shock installed height, coil spring compression and so much more. All numbers revealed! Also, I cover my strategy for how I will launch the car for the first couple of times on the first outing. This is part 2 of the 48 Ford Suspension Tuning Series to show how we get the Blown 48 Ford Coupe to launch and safely get down the track!

See all the 4 Link measurements on the 48 Ford Coupe. Shock installed height, coil spring compression and how all this falls on the Anti Squat line. All measurements disclosed and how to use a great online 4 link calculator is displayed. I discuss the strategy on launching the 48 Ford on our first outing coming up soon!

Kevin Outstanding!! This is my 1st time setting up a drag vehicle.. Knowing nothing I’m trying to absorb quickly! I’m setting up an S10 rear end and just purchased the Calvert racing set up split mono leafs and lower link traction arms! I’m checking out the videos and trying learn what I can. Thank you so much for the help Andy

Andy Jones thanks so much for your comments and support! Calvert racing is top notch and follow their lead on your baseline settings. Definitely, definitely, get the rear double adjustable shocks. The S10's with the Calvert setup and split mono leafs absolutely work! Please stay in touch and keep me posted on your progress. Go fast, go straight! Be Safe!!

Kevin, I think you are 100 percent correct. Esp being such a high Cam Height. I think its important to point out if someone had a super low cam height, things change a little. I say all the time to the small tire guys I work with/for, if you are running less than 100% A/S, then you are bandaiding another issue....be it chassis, suspension or wtv else. (Tire, power, etc.)

Good timing Kevin. Trying to set up the 4-link on my 74 Vette, small tire slick, stick shift car. Ran 2 weeks ago at 145% AS and crushed the tires. Last week I lowered the bottom bar and it figured at 114%, ( just a coincidence we're starting at the same place). The car launched very well, no tire shake, no excessive spin, just about neutral, so I'll be leaving that alone for now. The next step is dialing in the DD401's. I'm along for the ride with you on this one. Unfortunately we only have 5 weeks left up here in New England due to old man winter, but maybe we can get it close by then. Can't wait to see videos of your car on the track. Standing by....

A question about building a chassis and installing the 4 link cross member in the chassis. At a level chassis desired race ready ride height would you have the front bracket bottom bolt hole height the same as the axle bracket bottom bolt hole ? That would have to the bottom bar at level with the ground and chassis when the bottom holes are used. Raising or lowering the coil overs would change the angle a bit.
@KevinWilsonSBC

General Sixty thanks so much for your comments! That is a great starting point. I rarely have the bottom bar going down as you go from rear to front. Go fast, go straight! Be Safe!!

Hi Kevin, how do I get your opinion on the way my top sportsman car is leaving. I have 4 link wizard and video of the car. It seems to be hopping out of the hole. I also run a koni yellow electric shock box and may have forgotten which number is tighter on tbe rebound knobs. Thanks, Chuck

Will the coil overs in the front the rear end effect anything versus being behind the rear end on a 4 link?
@KevinWilsonSBC

I've ran 103 to 125% for quite awhile on big tire slick. 14.5w with a glide . Inital hook is good. but seems I wants to spin 4to 5ft out when track prep starts goings away.. Do you see the same thing with this? And once you go over 100% antisquat does the adjustment of coil over shocks reverse? IE... more traction on intial hit you adjust rebound to add hit?

I have a 24" subframe four link 15+ 14 bead locker wheels how far is a safe distance from the slick to the sub frame. .Goodyear drag slicks...I was thinking three inches but can I go closer ? Your help would be appreciated 👍 thanks
