I found I had fatty liver this year .my doctor told me lose weight . But she didn't tell me what I could do to help it if I can
@SugarMDs2 ай бұрын
Losing weight can be a key step in managing fatty liver disease. Focus on adopting a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins while limiting saturated fats, sugar, and refined carbohydrates. Regular exercise is also crucial; aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity each week, such as walking, cycling, or swimming. Additionally, staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day is important. It's advisable to limit alcohol intake, as it can exacerbate liver issues. If possible, consider working with a healthcare professional or nutritionist to receive personalized guidance tailored to your needs. Always discuss any new diet or exercise plan with your healthcare provider to ensure it fits your individual requirements. Remember, you got this!

It's not just insulin resistance that leads to fatty liver. Fructose consumption directly produces fat cells with a liver. And it doesn't matter what the source of the fructose is. Whether the fructose comes from high fructose corn syrup in an ultra processed sugary drink or a organically grown fruit → The actual fructose molecules are exactly the same. The only difference is the concentration. If you are showing signs of liver stress, you should exercise to avoid fructose. There are plenty of other ways of getting nutrition besides eating fructose loaded fruit. Your liver will thank you.

I’ve noticed a rising trend of ALT and AST levels after I started Rosuvastatin. I’m at the high end of upper thresholds for these two markers. I’m going to cut my daily intake of Rosuvastatin from 10mg to 5mg.
@SugarMDs2 ай бұрын
Thank you for sharing your experience regarding the rising ALT and AST levels after starting Rosuvastatin. It’s great to see you monitoring your health so closely and taking proactive steps. Reducing your dose seems like a reasonable approach, but as always, it might be a good idea to check in with your healthcare provider before making changes to your medication. They can help ensure that you're maintaining the right balance between managing your cholesterol and supporting liver health. If you have any further insights or updates on how things go after adjusting the dose, feel free to share. Wishing you the best on your health journey!

Liver damage is a known side effect of statin use. But most importantly, why are you taking a statin? They have already been shown to have minimal health benefits while also bringing significant risk of side effects. If anything, you should be looking at your triglycerides since they are associated with negative cardiovascular outcomes at a *_MUCH_* higher rate than cholesterol levels,

@@Hertz2laugh Good thoughts. Rosuvastatin has been shown to reduce inflammation, which I have. My triglycerides are 70.
@rachelalviola2482 ай бұрын
Same here. My ALT and AST enzymes were elevated too. My HCP told me to take Rosuvastatin 10 mgs three times a week only. We’ll see if it will improve my enzymes level in a month .

I have been allergic to different grasses and goldenrod in the past is it ok for me to take milk thistle?
@SugarMDs2 ай бұрын
In a recent inquiry, a user expressed concern about their allergies to various grasses and goldenrod when asking if it is safe for them to take milk thistle. This highlights the importance of being cautious when introducing new supplements, especially for individuals with a history of allergies. Milk thistle is often used for its potential liver benefits, but those with allergies to related plants may need to consult a healthcare provider before starting any new herbal supplement. It's crucial to ensure that such remedies won't trigger allergic reactions or other adverse effects, thereby safeguarding one's health.

Why did you say "Reverse" in quotes. We know from research that the fat actually leaves the liver. This title makes it seem like the problem isn't really being solved. The way to solve this problem is very simple, just loose weight and be in a calorie deficit. The liver fat is the first fat to leave the body. But of course it's important to keep the weight off.
@SugarMDs2 ай бұрын
You make an excellent point! The use of quotes around "reverse" may have been to highlight that while liver fat can be reduced or eliminated through lifestyle changes like weight loss and caloric deficit, maintaining these changes is crucial to prevent it from returning. You're absolutely right that liver fat is often the first to go with proper weight management. The long-term solution involves not only losing the weight but also keeping it off to prevent future complications. Thanks for bringing up this important clarification! 😊

My alat and ggt is raised, i use azathioprine more than 5 years. Asat is ok the rest of bloodwork also. But my doc says it’s all ok. Is it?
@SugarMDs2 ай бұрын
It's good to hear you're staying on top of your health. Elevated ALAT and GGT levels can indicate liver stress, but if your doctor has reviewed your blood work and believes everything is fine, that’s a positive sign. It’s important to continue monitoring your levels and maintain open communication with your healthcare provider regarding any concerns. If you feel uncertain, seeking a second opinion may also provide peace of mind.

What if one is under weight
@melissasmess27732 ай бұрын
Well, it's more healthy to be ten pounds overweight than ten pounds underweight.
@SugarMDs2 ай бұрын
That's a great point! While being slightly overweight is often discussed in terms of health risks, being underweight can also pose its own challenges, especially in managing energy levels and nutritional intake. It’s essential to focus on overall health rather than just weight. If someone is underweight, it may be beneficial to consult with a healthcare provider or nutritionist to explore balanced dietary options that support both health and weight management. Thank you for bringing up this important perspective!

Dr, I love your teachings. But on the ingredients of your products, I see magnesium stearate and silicon dioxide. Those 2 ingredients are not healthy. Thank you.
@SugarMDs2 ай бұрын
Thank you for your thoughtful comment and for supporting the content. I understand your concerns about magnesium stearate and silicon dioxide in supplements. While these ingredients are commonly used as fillers or anti-caking agents in many supplements, they are generally considered safe in small amounts by regulatory agencies like the FDA. However, I appreciate your desire for cleaner products, and it's always a good idea to choose supplements that align with your health values. If you have any concerns, I recommend discussing them with a healthcare provider to find the best options for you.
