Just started triple jump about two months ago, at 8m right now. Doing alright for a 13 year old. Trying for 9m wish me luck. This video is a big help.

Thank you!! This is so helpful! I just started triple jump today as a junior in high school and I've already fallen in love! Right now I'm hitting about 30 feet on my first day but I'm hoping to bring it up to 35 by the end of the summer. Is that feasible for a 5'4" female jumper?

Hi, yes, well spotted. Got quite a few newer older athletes. Couple studying in London, including a German and an Irish guy, both long and triple jumpers - 7m and 15m for both. It's a shame we are back on 'semi' lockdown as we haven't been able to train as a group for a while. Hope all is well with you

I started triple jump yesterday and got 10m on my 3rd jump, I wanna try and improve it with these tips. Is 10m good for a 14 year old?
@Johnshepherdtrackcoach3 жыл бұрын
10m is a good starting point. Try to make all three phases more of less equal when you start out. The step is normally the weakest in terms of distance in beginners and you want to maximise it in terms of your learning when you start out. Good luck

I just got to regionals with a jump of 10.76m, I'm gonna try and get to 11.5 before the regionals tournament comes up

Depends on your region and talent. It’s good for you and you should just keep trying your best. But 14 year olds jump 14+ meters in the Bahamas

My age is 23..can i start training at this age and succeed
@Johnshepherdtrackcoach3 жыл бұрын
Yes, of course, although it will have been beneficial/advantageous to have perhaps been an athlete in the last ie to have trained for a couple of years at a relevant event. Playing another sport such as volley ball or basketball could also be a good background. If you are coming at the sport from a small base of prior athletic or other sport involvement then it will take time to get the necessary foundation and start to develop the specific condition necessary. Probably being in your 20s you’ll have an appreciation of your natural physical qualities and what you are good at. Obviously for long jump, for example, you need to be fast and explosive. Hope this helps a bit and good luck.

Sir,I am from India can i come to Britain and train under u .
@Johnshepherdtrackcoach4 жыл бұрын
Well, it could be possible. Obviously these times are very difficult with COVID. I have had jumpers from Europe and further afield come and train for a month or so in the UK summer. Do note that I have started a virtual coaching facility on my channel, where I analyse technique and provide some training suggestions and you also get access to other exclusive content which will help you better plan and understand your training. There is a fee for this - checkout the link here if interested: kzbin.info/door/yVAgma7MDT1Wqzw40Mb13gjoin
