4:50, you need to have work so hard you not only believe you can go with anyone, but you know in your head you did more than your opponent did to prepare for the match or the live go, to the point that you believe you deserve the win and it is rightfully yours win or lose. I am not saying you will win every match, but if you walk out there like there's nothing I could've did more or better to prepare for this not only does this get to your opponent, but you will have a lot closer matches with guys that you thought would pin you in the first period the first time you looked at them. If you walk out on the mat like I deserve to win this match more than my opponent and nothing should change that, you might surprise yourself. I know I did: i got beat and almost pinned 8 to 1 first round in a tournament to this kid. I workout at home more often and more intensly and go harder in practice than i had ever gone before and next time i wrestled him. Guess what, the first thirty seconds of the match I almost took him down but we were out of bounds and I was so hyped and surprised when it happened. I ended up losing the match 2 to 1 in the end because I accidentally locked hands. This kid made me cry the first time I wrestled when he cross faced me. And I came back three weeks later a little bit more focused and determined to win that match and put up a fight and had probably one of my best matches of the season. If you go out there scared you will go against a good wrestler you will have no chance. However, if you go out there confident knowing win or lose you will be a warrior and that kid isn't going to want to wrestle you again, at least now you have a chance of getting your hand raised.

Adding to number one. With your drill partner, after the takedown keep pressure and make them work on their escapes. Much better workout. Not live, but pressure.

I'll give you one if my jewels. All champions have incredible HAND STRENGTH (grip)! Once obtained, a lock should NEVER be broken. If I grab your wrist, I HAVE YOUR WRIST. PERIOD! Those spring things where you squeeze the handles together are good to do at home while watching tv but we used a simple 3ft cord put through a hole drilled into broom stick. Tie a knot in one end and a 5-10lb weight to the other. Lock your arms in front of you parallel to the ground and lift the weight by rolling your wrists to wind the cord around the stick all the way up and down. Your forearms will burn and your grip will become like a vise.

For forearm training I go bouldering, it not only trains forearms but other muscles, as well as getting in some stretching as well.

What do you do if going as hard as you can in drilling leaves you with almost no energy for going live?
