Oh Man, Thank You I have a ton of Ryobi tools I use for handyman jobs and yard work. They work good for the price. I am building a big vinyl record cabinet and was wondering what joinery to use.. I like that last one you showed. I think it will work great. Thanks again!

Hello. This was an excellent and elaborated presentation. While I was watching you , your work bench with tracks and clamps got my attention. You have put tracks in the mitered edges. Can you please give me the link to get those toggle clamps. You should make a clip for that idea. I loved it. That eliminates the need of a Vice. I appreciate again.

Nice tips. One of the best parts of the vid was when you said “I have had this (cheap) ryobi for 5 years…”. You just sold a bunch of ryobi biscuit joiners right there dude, thank you

12:50 that is a wrongly cut spline. The grain needs to be perpendicular to the spline, or the spline adds no strength and will split under minimal loads. Need a wider board and cut it the other way.

9:51 Not sure why you would not have flushed the top of your stock with your table when clamped (or other flat stock surface/level-up) so as to prevent and Joiner from rocking as you glide? Ive done what you have shown multiple times but as I have stated, easy piesy.

Neat stuff. In that last use, the spline looked like pine, and was parallel to the surrounding wood. The biscuits would probably be stronger, and easier to put in. If one does want to build that joint, and has a router, a fly cutter makes a better slotter, and will have steeper ends, allowing one a wider usable slot, or less material to chisel/remove if one goes that route.

Could cut a groove with the biscuit cutter, then turn the board around cut a groove into the back of the original groove. This would take the 1/4 tab all the way off thus making the spline(?) Without a table saw

Those are great tips, Brandon, however my old Porter Cable 555 biscuit cutter (no longer made) has spring loaded pins to specifically prevent it from sliding sideways. Also, back in the day, they made a mini jointer and biscuits to use on the miter faces. I don't know if it's still made or not. Take care. Bill

With the spline for the butt joint, could you have cut the spline to the full length of the groove and then used a biscuit as a template to shape each end ? Just so you could have it full length.
