I know the true capabilities of both the F-22 and Su-57 are classified so DCS is a best guess, but I can't help but think that somewhere, perhaps by both sides, a military-modded version of DCS is being used with the capabilities more accurately modeled.

Returned radar energy works on the inverse 4th power Law (inverse square outbound and inverse square returning), compound this with a very small RCS of the target and long ranges, and very little energy, if anything gets back to the SAM radar. Very hard to shot at what you cant see and when you can see, you need enough to get a solution. Thus the SAMs effective range is reduced.

ground-based missiles have to put a hell of a lot more energy into climbing to altitude and getting up to speed compared to air-to-air missiles. they also have a very static launch platform that the enemy can easily outmaneuver. they're great for point defense (at least until you get some wild weasels showing up, your location is compromised, and a few low-observable aircraft bomb you to kingdom come) but they're not a replacement for competent fighter jets.

Run your 4 ship 10 miles in trail. Have lead TWS volley 4 and go cold. Make all adversaries defend when 2 comes in and volleys 4 more and go cold. When 3 gets there, same same. And for 4 if anything is left. Try the volleying relay for a line abreast adversary.

Were those AMRAAMS defective, or does the Felon really have good stealth capabilities? Wasn't the F-22 radar tracking and guiding the missile in the close range AMRAAM shots? If the Amraam pitbulled in 2-4 miles, the Su-57 must have been one helluva stealth fighter to make it lose track. Almost comparable to the F-22.

There is rather a banal difference in technology, maybe the Su-57 is not as inconspicuous as the F-22, but it has an extremely technologically advanced electronic warfare system, yet Russia has succeeded in this.

I am a fan of both planes. And from what I read about them - this would be an accurate outcome in real situation like that: both sides losses (since radar and missiles are close in capabilities), but the victory of the battle and scores depend on specific pilot skills. GS is a very skillfully pilot. I am sure USAF can find 4 Top Gun pilots like him, especially considering how long F-22 has been operating. While it is an open question if Russia can allocate 4 Felons in perfect condition and 4 her "Top Gun" pilots. May be, or may not. It's a variable so far.
