Proloquo2go is a fantastic communication app for non-verbal kids. It’s important that it is with them as much as possible and also easy for them to navigate. In this video I talk about 4 different ways that we have used to make Proloquo2go more accessible for our son Ashley.
Core words - While spoken language has at least 250,000 words, a list of only 200 words accounts for about 80% of the words you use every day! These words are called “core words”.
Fringe words - Fringe vocabulary are the low-frequency words that are specific to a certain topic or activity.
Chapter times :
01:21 - use a support device so their ‘voice’ stays with them!
03:34 - use a protective cover with a hand and shoulder strap
05:00 - have more people using Proloquo2go with your child
06:09 - setting up the vocabulary on Proloquo2go
06:44 - core words in every folder
07:33 - avoid folders for individual topics.
