Kudos on your whole production! I’m most impressed with your reaction to the recovery. Very respectful and reverent. I wish more KZbinrs who film their hunts would treat the game the way you did.

Congratulations on a great buck. I personally like the real emotion, shows me how much you respect the animal and the true thankfulness. And personally if you don't have some remorse when you kill one of Gods beautiful creatures, you shouldn't be hunting. Its always bitter sweet. Thanks for sharing, all the people bashing you for the shot, imo everyone knows their own skill level and equipment, you made the shot and the animal died quickly, you cant really ask for anymore. Thanks for sharing.

Amen brother! It's unfortunate that hunters are so quick to slam other hunters. Like you said, know your equipment and skill level and make a decision in the heat of the moment. Fortunately he did expire quickly and was recovered - the two main things we hope for in every hunt.

Great story and glad your hard work paid off. We should all be humble enough to understand why you took that shot with the equipment you’re using; particularly after going to full draw and stopping the deer at 15 yards. I don’t know many folks that would’ve let him blow out of there after chasing him for 2 years and busting your tail and wallet to keep him on and around your property. Bow hunting is tough and it is meant to be rewarding and it’s unfortunate that KZbin trolls feel the need to bash you! Congratulations and good luck next season!

Thank you for the kind words! We agree, the bashing of other hunters is something that we just don't understand. The shot was taken and the deer was harvested. Unfortunately not every scenario can be textbook like some people seem to think.

@@Whitetail_PropertiesI won't bash you but that was a shot that shouldn't have been taken no matter what people might say in the comments. If a good shot doesn't present itself you don't take it, no matter how big it is or how long you've been hunting it. And I definitely don't believe that you got into the vitals, ie, lungs and heart. But hey, I'm just a public land hunter.

I think the new research is showing that just because it’s a heavy arrow, doesn’t mean it’s going to penetrate. I would look into testing some arrows that have stiffer shafts compared to those full metal jackets. Yes the fmj is heavy, but it bends quite a bit on impact resulting in the loss of energy.

@@chiseltip1734 even if it is on unethical and that deer did suffer for hours that’s the same as everyone in this comment section that Archery hunts shooting a deer in the guts (I can almost guarantee 90% of you in this comment section. Have just like myself )it’s gonna take hours and hours and hours for that deer to die, but we just chalk it up to a bad shot regardless whether it’s front facing broadside quartering to or quartering away if you make a bad shot that doesn’t reflect on him as an archery Hunter at all

After reading all the negative comments, i bet you wish this didn't get aired. Seems like a lot of armchair quarterbacks out there with a jealous attitude. This old man watches a lot of these type of vedios. Did you have to take the shot. No. But you obviously were confindent enough in it to do it. You had a close enough shot to pull this off. At 20 plus yards, not a good idea. But here, i find you Not Guilty of taking a large risk! I've seen "The Hunting Public cover this scenario several times and i agree with them. As long as you're confident with you're ability, you do not deserve this abuse. I am not confident in mine to take this shot. But i don't practice enough. Many people make bad shots on ideal angles, and I'm guilty of this also. Great Buck. Congrats!

We appreciate the kind words! We agree, too many people acting like every shot they’ve ever taken on an animal was perfect. Can't believe the comments! Very sad to not recover this beautiful animal! Right away! How can anyone following a blood trail!, not keep following it! It's apparent this deer was dead before you ever got out of the tree! Why do hunters think they can leave a deer lay all night and then eat the meat! Pretty apparent you only cared about the horns! Personally I'd would have been ashamed to have posted this video! Hopefully another will learn from your stupid mistakes!!!

Absolutely did not have to take such a lousy shot absolutely wrong I truly hate camera hunters always put getting the shot off over an ethical shot

Poor. You did not have too. Selfish. So much more could be said but your poor decision speaks for itself. Will you do that again! Over 40 years of bow hunting. Never ever on my watch. Trying really hard to be polite. Not cool, not ethical, not a lover of game, not right. Nope it's not part of the game. Was a dumb decision to take that shot.

At 5:10 it looks like the boys climbing the tree without being tied in. Never a smart move, I’m grown and I won’t climb a tree without being tied in. Not smart to have a child doing so👎🏼

I’m newer to hunting so maybe my view is different but regardless of how nice that buck is. I wouldn’t shoot any animal head on. That’s horrible Hunter ethics man. Patience is a virtue and posting this video, is telling your younger hunter audience that a shot like that is ethical and fine to take. Not trying to rip you apart but that was pretty upsetting

I can’t stand when I hear “I had to take the shot!”. No you didn’t! This is archery, not having a shot happens and you have to let the animal walk and hope you get another chance. You are supposed to be a professional, new hunters are watching your shows to learn how to be better. This is not showing them how to be better.

Man don't ever cry like that again..that was a terrible shot,, it was a forced shot, you risked unnecessary suffering of the buck, Just to get a trophy

Get tired of seeing raised pampered bucks. its nothing impressive anymore. i cant even appreciate hunting anymore because of all the pampered deer & then being posted like its supposed to impress us. Im a 33yr old guy that lives & hunts in Pennsylvania all my life whos never hunted private land once ever. All my bucks were all fair game to any hunter by being on Public land.

These guys have bought land near my lease in the midwest and all they do is hold properties drive up prices and get a few bucks on camera then bring in potential buyers to hunt then who ever has the biggest pocket book ends up with the land

Sad what’s happened and still happening to hunting. Has just turned into a scoring sport instead of a passion and a way to connect to God and the outdoors. The animals lives aren’t taken into account as they once were and making the most ethical shots possible. It’s just about killing antlers inches. I was there for a year or two but realized I had gone the wrong direction and have changed back to what hunting is all about, (feeding family and friends with the freshest and cleanest meat, spending time with the family and friends, making sure the animals are taken in the fastest and most ethical way possible and if that shot doesn’t present itself then I let the animal walk). Nice deer but too great of a chance that it could have turned out very negatively. I don’t measure the antlers on bucks I harvest. When someone asks me how many inches my deer was I ask why would I care, there is meat in my freezer and I can’t eat antlers.
