Thanks for the tips...I don''t play so often to be competitive, nor I understand all those combos you mentioned...but I like how you painted your demons. You gave me some inspiration for color schemes for my 2nd beast of nurgle that I am painting. I am also starting a Drukhari/Ynnari army and I'll check your Eldar videos!

I guess it depends on who you verse a lot! I never verse guard, and the one time I did Belakor kept my army alive all game long... So much indirect fire was prevented. But I also stopped myself from playing the game and sat in the corner. With my current list I think I would have had more of a chance to move out and destroy some units.

My LGS is playing WTC terrain mostly, so in my experience, Be'lakor "Wreathed in Shadows" aura was useless in most of the games (as you can easily hide all the stuff ruin after ruin)

Exactly the same with me! Though there is an upcoming huge tournament which refuses to use up to date terrain! So I'm thinking it might be a great time to break out Belakor and some tzeentch daemons and just shoot people! See how we go! 😄

been a fan of your eldar content for years. and what a pleasant surprise/coincidenc. I also moved to daemons at the start of 10th to eacape the hate and fell in love with khorne/nurgle combo. its plays in the same way that made me love eldar. fragile and tricky, high damage potential that requires setup and combos. It rewards careful play/planning and really punishes mistakes, (ive misswd winning in the movment phase!) super fun learning curve and its really reminding me of what i loved about earlier eldar codexes

@@BarnyardWargamingOfficial it's actually Jake so just one letter away 😂 I have to say, I'm really having success with belakore. he is definitely overcosted, but I've been paying the CP to pull him up and a second CP to deepstrike him within 3" turn 2 next to a big threat and using his 6" aura to drop some killy khorne units (or a few Nurgle fat Bois), it's really helped me with just picking an area of the board and winning it whenever I want. pretty much guarantees me scoring capture enemy outpost if I happen to draw it turn 2 as well. I'll definitely give swap him out after this video and see how I do, but I feel like the utility he can bring is super underrated

@scoller okay wow I'm thoroughly spooked. As for Belakor, I thought the exact same thing! That's what I was doing but found I could just do it with plaguebearers instead for half the price, and then I don't give away a gigantic powerful monster and another unit to hold a point for one turn. I've never seen Belakor live past a round after doing something like that. I even versed a daemon player doing the same tactics. Mirror match up, and I killed his Belakor with a couple daemonettes and the changelings flamer...

I agree on dropping Belakor. I also like the GUO + Rot + Plagebearers with Epidemious. And I like Skarbrand and Bloodletters + Rendmaster. For me the element I think you are missing is a unit of bloodcrushers. They do what the bloodletters do but they tend to survive the hit back as well which is nice.

I was certainly considering them for sure! But because they're a lot more expensive I couldn't fit much more in. It's the same problem with the snail unit. They do have a great way of battleshocking units and dealing some mortals though for sure! Perhaps I'll give a crusher bomb a go in some of my games and report back. I just don't like the way they can't move around terrain as much, and have such a large footprint for deepstrike. Letters are easily to place and I don't care when they die etc. but crushers are great for screening and are faster and tougher so I'll let you know! 😁

In this one probably not. It's not bad for 105 points! But it doesn't synergise very well with anything in the list... I did try it and I didn't like it. But in some other lists maybe with done more slaanesh units for extra AP or +1 to wound for example it's not terrible.

It depends on the style of board you play on. I'm very used to thick terrain that crushers cannot move through. So letters are usually the better option 🙂

I love demons because they let me play AoS and branch out a bit into chaos space marines and chaos knights. Khorne and nurgle are my favorite chaos beings so I'm going to have to build this army.

I'm surprised to see no inclusion of bloodcrushers. Lots of people online seem to think theyre a Khorne powerhouse and they can hit very hard on a charge. Any reason for leaving them out of the party?

I agree that they're very good! But I typically play on more dense terrain. Meaning that more tactical and precise bloodletter bombs that can move through walls perform better than gigantic bricks of models that must move around terrain. If I was to try crushers I would have more of a problem with people screening out large zones of the table between terrain features etc. not to mention Skarbrand doesn't give extra attacks to the crushers mounts. So they don't stack as well as a cheaper bloodletter bomb in my lists. 😁

Great info! I played my 4 player 1k match last night and went with - 3xCrushers, 6xCrushers, Rendmaster, Brigand, Belakor. All units performed well apart from B'elakor who just hit like a wet fish. It was a very good list though, hit hard, very tough and mobile

Aos player trying to get into 40k and i have a question If a unit (like the khorne cannons) makes someone take a battleshock test outside of normal times via their ability, do they still have to roll if they are already battleshocked? (For purposes of triggering the shadow damage)

It's a great question and I believe that once a unit is battleshocked they actually do not need to take any more tests. So you cannot stack the damage from shadow sadly.

I have come to the same conclusion as you of pairing up Nurgle with a damage dealing god, and Khorne seems to be best for that job. The nurgle core allows the Khorne side to enter from deep strike where it's needed. You like to run leaders with your battle line units, have you tried playing the battle line units without leaders? A leader increases the price point for the unit by at least 50%. Have you considered running daemon princes, either walking or flying? Or soul grinder? It would be great to hear your opinions on these. As they get the nurgle/khorne keywords, they synergize with the army.

Yes I do like to run leaders in my units! I find that more often than not they really give the unit the extra abilities they need. For example Epidemius not only gives me a way to generate CP, but he is a monster in combat AND gives the unit a 4+ save instead of a 5+ which when combo'd with the rerolling 1's to save stratagem makes them so much harder to kill. Skulltaker giving devastating wounds, and full rerolls to himself, and a bloodmaster for +1 to wound... I mean these abilities are worth more than the unit itself every time! I feel like I only take the units most of the time as a chaff tax to protect the character and just give me some OC for taking points. I also play Aeldari a fair bit with an Aspect Warrior list using all the Pheonix Lords, and in this case it's the same. The Lords themselves are always the damage dealers and the units they are with are just chaff to keep them alive. I have looked into Daemon Princes a lot! But sadly they are just widely too expensive. I mean when you compare the damage output for the cost... They aren't worth it. One on foot is 200 points, compared with Rotigus who hits harder, is T12, has a lot more wounds, and a lot more synergy with the army and is only another 30 points?! Even Epidemius has d6+3 attacks, 5, -3, 3 rerolling all wounds with lethals if you wanted it. Why take a Daemon Prince? I'm just going to wait for them to come down in price by about 60 points each. As for Soul Grinders, I have looked into them a lot! But I think the biggest reason I don't take them is purely for avoiding giving the enemy more points and having yet another big monster on the table. Big monsters are great for beginner games, but as you climb the competitive ladder people know how to focus them hard, or just pepper them and keep them at bay for a long period of time. For example when you verse a Drukhari or GSC player, your big things will almost never hit anything important in melee. So I limit myself to 3 big monsters, and in my list that is sadly already taken up by better choices. If they were a bit cheaper then i would consider it. But for daemons having that pair of Big monsters and Small objective taking chaff is the best mix, and a Soul Grinder is kind of half half at the moment. Hope this helps! 😊

Well lucky you! Nurgle is great for fixed! I would take teleport homers and cleanse and just push units onto the middles to score points! Make sure you have epidemius to give you cp back. Rotigus 100%. And lots of flies for speed and damage as well! The beasts unit with the snail is also very good! I think a Nurgle list could be very strong 😁

Going to disagree with Be’lakor. Your meta must not have a lot of shooting. Move blocking with nurglings and having that 18in bubble really helps with not getting shot of turn 1-2. Also having the shadows around him helps a lot with keeping buffs on your units and getting those deepstrike charges off. Good players are going to be able to deny you shadows on the middle board more often than not.

I just find that using competitive terrain makes him useless unless they have a lot of indirect fire. Even then the resilience of daemons makes that firepower seem not very effective anyway. Why pay 350 points to hide in plain sight when you can just hide?

Just out of curiosity which god would you pair with Slaanesh units? I know Slaanesh units arent the greatest right now but they're still my favorite. I'm just not sure which other god would synergize best with them

I normally do Tzeentch, but that is just because I also do Khorne and Nurgle together so they are just leftover. The best answer is probably Nurgle! They're slow, Slaanesh are fast. Good mix of units. You just might get stat checked... Good luck! 😁

Hey! New to Daemons and loving the army. A lot more fun than my World Eaters army. What’s your opinion on Bloodcrushers? I’m on the fence about them for my Nurgle/Khorne list.

I think they're insanely good! I just couldn't fit them into my list because they're quite expensive. They are more of a hammer unit and for the style of games I play, on WTC terrain, it is much harder for them to move through buildings then blood letters. So I would rather hold the midboard with my Nurgle and just have some squishy bombs for damage. But if you didn't have a holding force in a different style list then absolutely include them! They are for sure one of the best units in the book! 😁 Make sure you have a rendmaster to buff them up for sure, and you might even be able to use a skull altar to drop them in!

I am considering running more than one unit of flies…since each unit can pick a unit for rerolling wounds. Have you dabbled with this?

I thought about it. But I found that committing to one unit killed and then just tanking the rest of their damage during their turn is generally better. Another 120 points for a unit with a 5+ save is a big tax. Even if they do move 10. They can be bogged melee. They don't kill very much of anything. Not worth.

Great question! I will have to make another video shortly updating my army because Epidemius is no longer being sold and may have a new model or no model coming out! We don't know yet. If you can't get him then the list does change a fair bit and I haven't quite thought about it a lot myself just yet. It's not the most beginner friendly army, but it is a lot more so than many other armies as daemons are a bit more simple to play! But to truly master it there is a fair bit of depth to it, so a very well rounded good time I would say! Thanks for the awesome comment 😁

Have you tested putting a Skull Altar behind the center ruin to make sure the GUO always has his 4+ FNP on the center objective? It feels probably too expensive but I haven't played the GUO enough to know how often he gets bumped to 5+ FNP instead of 4+.

Rendmaster buff with Skull taker and letters. They will mince one easy peasy. Or you wrap them up with plaguebearers for a while. They can't typically move. Those are two super good options. But you can always slow them down with screens too

You're in luck because at the moment it's actually one of the best moments for Khorne ever! They're not the strongest they could be on their own, but certainly a powerful force. I think the best you could get is 3x9 bloodcrusher blobs with Skarbrand. Maybe a unit of letters with skulltaker. If it's light terrain Belakor for sure. Something along those lines. Best of luck! 😁

With your opinion about belakor, what do you think of the even pricier Shalaxi? Would she have a place in a list like this or not worth it because no synergy except maybe the -1 T from GUO?

Until she drops 100 points she is so not worth it. She does so much damage for sure but unless she does a decent amount of damage every single turn for the whole game she never makes her points back and people will just screen her out or one shot her dead. The one time I versed her mirror match up, she charged into my GUO and I spent the rest of the game in combat with her essentially just scoring points behind her back. That's 450p doing nothing... And I only need to spend 260 to keep her there while the GUO gives me FNP around him and -1 toughness... I reckon she needs an overhaul. I'd love to see her ability change entirely to the same as rotigus. +1 DMG, but for slaanesh and make her maybe 250 points.

Yeah that’s about the same to what happened to my shalax. I mean it’s fun to play probably one of the strongest characters in a Statcheck scenario but this rarely ever happens and getting the points out of her is indeed horrible. Been building up my daemon allies for chaos knights and looking at transitioning over to daemons as my main army. How do you reckon a few war dog karnivores would work alongside your list as allies?

They work well! They give the army tank shock and shooting. Two of the most important things that daemons miss out on. I just generally don't play with knights because I feel like its a bit dirty to bring in an army to assist another and then claim you're playing that army... It's not really daemons with daemons and knights right?

No worries! 3 crushers to me doesn't seem as worth it as going the whole hog and taking 6. It's easier to make one charge instead of 2. Maybe for smaller games yes but in 2k I wouldn't. Too easier to murder and give away assassinate. As for Rotigus... Sadly no not for this list 😕 He just synergies so well with Nurgle daemon lists! If you wanted a little less Nurgle and included something like the LoC with relic and the changeling for more battleshocks that might work, but I prefer the big guy!

I cant win in my local meta without belakor becouse its way to heavy on shooting. I still love my belakor becouse he can deep strike and give a diffrent unit shadow of chaos to be able to get closer on the charge. I do feel that hes way to expensive but I still find him worth it.

Yea for sure if the local meta is a tonne of guns and little terrain he is essential. But if you're playing competitive games with little indirect influence then he is useless.

You definitely have to run the snail at that point then! I would also try a massive blob of 6 drones instead of something like the crushers. You could get a 5" deep strike charge with them as well and really hit something hard with +1 DMG and they effectively give themselves reroll wounds! More drones is for sure the way to go! Then maybe a lot more plaguebearers. I wouldn't go more than 2 GUO. The relic and rotigus are more than enough. You need board presence after that 😁 good luck!

How do you get a 5 inch charge with bloodletters? Even with shadow of chaos tou need to deepstrike MORE than 6 inches away...so at a minimum 6.001 inches. That makes for a 6 inch charge. Same goes for regular, non demon deepatrike. You can never have an 8 inch deepstrike charge.

Yes but units with banners are +1 to charge rolls! 😁 So it's effectively a '5'... But whatever you roll you move one more than that as well. So if you roll a 5, you're in and you move 6". If you roll a 10. You move 11 and can wrap units even further!

Sorry yes it's the instrument which adds 1! The banner is +1 leadership. But yes because of the instrument adding one to your rolls. You can make a 5" charge in shadow or an 8" charge outside of shadow 😁

I mean maybe? It had never worked for me. I've never seen Belakor make his points back in a game before dying, and I played about 20 games with him. Not to mention the new stratagem change for CSM Nurgle units only being untargettable outside 18 instead of 12 had apparently made the faction 'much worse', and their winrate has gone down. Which is the same ability as Belakor. So for 350 points, he seems pretty overcosted to me.

So you are saying that even with the 18 inch aura, players will just move forward and kill you anyway? SOrry i dont have much experience like you. What armies would we need to watch out for ? I know tau can move forward shoot then move back. Not sure what else. Im just to scared of getting shot of the board turn 1 XD. I mean i have only played about 8 games of 10th

It certainly depends on what kind of game you are playing. With casual terrain, certain armies can absolutely just shoot across the board and kill something turn one and Belakor stops that. However, in most games, especially competitive games there is enough terrain to hide all of your models away on turn 1. Meaning Belakors aura is useless, and after that, even if you try to maintain a castle in the corner of the board for example, plenty of armies can shoot him dead easily. Deep striking obliteraters, deep striking Tau. Fast moving eldar. Drukhari dark lances. Sisters meltas. Deep striking Gsc bombs. Etc etc. the list goes on. Nurgle units that screen the board, hold position and wait while the Khorne units clear the board slowly is a better option in my opinion 😁

@@BarnyardWargamingOfficial 2 rendmaster, 2 skullcannon, seekers, 2x nurglings, belakor, skarbrand, the rest is as many bloodcrushers and blootletters as the list will allow. Belakor covers them first 2 turns then the deepstrikes begin. I pretty much use belakor purely for his utility and to give things a knock here nd there

@chaosclg oh nice yep! That's how I would run him if I was going to. Personally I've been screened out way too many times to trust that kind of list. My Nurgle half allows me to have some board presence instead of being all damage.

@@BarnyardWargamingOfficial never really had it happen to be honest its hard to do when you can deepstrike belakor within 3 then skarbrand into his shadow within 6 and charge, if opponent goes first i normally do this turn 1, pick up my units end of his turn and put a huge dent in their army turn one

And people let you actually charge something important as well? For all the people I verse there is so much chaff that blocks the way. When you deep strike you could try and flame it away with Belakor and Skarbrand but then you reduce your charge range, and the following turn I would lose both monsters almost every time. That's 655 points of my army just gone and they didn't do anything, except maybe slow down their army for a little while
