That's the problem with GW and Black Library, they are beyond terrible at scale! Three examples. - A ecuminopolis hive world that covers just 28% of the surface of a planet the size of Terra (which is the surface area not covered by water) would have a population above 200 trillion. - the Imperium apparently controls the vast majority of the Galaxy, however it only has 1 million worlds, in a galaxy of 400 billion - 2 trillion stars, with approximately 1-100 are G type stars (same as ours) or 4 -20 billion star systems meaning the Imperium controls just 0.004% of the Galaxy. - the Emperor was born in the times of the Hitties, which was roughly 2500 BC to 1750 BC or 4500- 3700 years ago. But we have large scale ruins as old as old as 11,500-13,500 BC, Gobekli Tepi aka Girê Mirazan and Kaharan Tepi. Meaning the Emperor is 10,000 years younger than we know civilisations is.

But what i do not get is how WHF and WH40K are not the same universe any longer!!! One would assume, as it is Warhammer, WHF would predate WH40K in the same universe? How darn stupid to call both WH, while not the same at all, in every aspect.

I agree, you chose perfectly, there are two main stories which the Necrons fought the Krieg, one which for the forgiveness of Krieg and the glory of the Emperor, the Krieg won, and one in which the unrelenting Necrons, for the glory of the Necron Empire, the Necrons won. I have both armies and frankly I love them both, but Krieg are my pride and joy (mostly due to cost and time spent painting them)

Given the vast technological disparity between the two forces, it is a Testament that the Imperial force did any damage at all to the Necrons. It's statistically similar to Old Ironsides fighting the U.S.S. Missouri.

Its not that bad, more so a complete difference of tech. Necron tech is playing by different rules iirc my lore correctly. Like orks, but there is a science to it. And if you have 100 ironsides vs 1 missouri, you'll likely win. Even if you lose 90

I never really got army numbers in 40k. We have hive worlds with hundreds of billions of inhabitants, but space marine chapters of just 1k warriors (barely ever fully deployed) and the big set up of troops described at the beginning with just 19M guardsman doesnt seems that big compared to wwii. I guess moving that many people in space ships would be quite a feat, but still.

19 BILLIONS were mentioned. The million figure was for the Death Korps, not the total of troops. In total including not only IG but PDF and militias there were roughly 210 billions troops involved in this sector’s war
