I am working diligently to try and purge as many as possible but it's a game of whack a mole unfortunately new accounts keep popping up. Lol. But other times.. take hitler.,, they just divert the people’s attention to the REAL PROBLEM … and start a war… Imperium does the same thing. Human nature homies. Now before i fell i ln love with learning this 40K universe i was and am obsessed with WW2. Its just so badass yet sad at the same time. I love how the Tau were at first confused on why humanity was so hostile and xenophobic, since they were able to cooperate with minor alien factions, then they interacted with some of the other major factions in the galaxy and were like "ohhhh thats why..." and proceeded to make a shoot on sight list

So I assume they knew this before they actually met the Imperium and only heard it from other factions they met and only understood from these "major" factions? The fact I once read is that in the clash between the Tyranids and the T’au, while the T’au did fall on the defensive and lost ground, their war was not a war of attrition, it was a war of adaptation. Tyranids would swarm? T’au would swarm back with droids while mechs ambushed leader organisms. Tyranids responded by going underground? The T’au respond by switching to heavy bombers with seismic charges. Nyds respond by switching to heavy armor front assault? The T’au move to a pliable rapid response formation to get around the heavies. Eventually, the T’au won the conflict by developing a targeted venom that acted so fast that the Nyds didn’t have time to react and died. If the Tyranids are masters of biological adaptation, T’au are the masters of technological and strategic adaptation. That said, this group of Nyds was a smaller one, and it took a big chunk out of the T’au before retreating. The T’au may be able to adapt to nyds, but they don’t have the numbers or resources to take a full-on assault head on.

Basically when the Imperium smashed hive fleet Behemoth a very small splinter named Gorgon fled to try and get their genetic I formation passed to a new hive fleet and passed into tau space after eating a few poorly defended planets. It proceeded to rampage through tau space causing them no shortage of problems. Eventually the tau and a random imperial army that dropped for a fight teamed up to finally put down the weakened remains of Gorgon. Unfortunately the tau screwed up and accidentally let a bunch if nid bioships leave the galaxy.

Fun fact, it wasn't a poison or venom per se but it did act like one and functioned the same way. They were self replicating nano drones (NANO MACHINES SON) that literally tore them apart at a molecular level, piece by piece and it did it fast. I love when the T'au saw their first Imperial Emperor Class Titan. They thought it was propaganda and when one walked onto the battlefield the T'au had to confirm it thrice since they couldn't fathom the amount of materials needed to field something so large. The T'au also were quite horrified by the Mechanicus as a group and when they realized that ALL imperial tech uses servitors and human brains as a base utterly terrified the Earth Caste. The Docmaclus Crusade books and such were a fun read.

Emperor Class? When did that happen. I don't recall any events where they have encountered one of those. Also the whole thing about not being able to fathom the materials require makes no sense, because whilst it would be the largest ground based unit they'd have seen, the Tau have thousands of space stations, defence platforms and warships that are far far larger. A Kroot Warsphere for example is approximately 9 kilometres in diameter, and makes an Emeperor Titan look like a spec of dust by comparison.

@UnknownSquid ships and space stations aren't expected to walk, mind you. I'd wager it'd be more disbelief that the imperium field one at all when they're kind of massively impractical and highly costly. Besides, the scale of 40k has always been egregiously silly.

@@umbraviventem Nothing I've read or am able to look up right now supports that being the reason it was created. The closest I can find is the Lexicanum stating, "it is intended to meet a threat that the Tau Empire has not yet prepared for" and... "Designed to counter anything from Imperial Knights to monstrous Tyranid beasts" The Emperor Class is an absurdly rare thing to actually see fielded anywhere. I'm fairly confident the Tau have never encountered one.
@DoctorM42
@DoctorM42 Жыл бұрын
Few corrections: 1) Tau encountered Orks before Humans. 2) When Indoctrinating space marine they used Nagi - one of their client species that have telepathic abilities. Tau can't be psykers themselves. 3) Tau can decipher how to make Space Marines. They won't do them because each marine costs more than couple Crisis suits. And Crisis suits are superior in most ways. There's also ideological problem that making immortal supersoldiers goes completely against Greater Good, but Tau had compromised on their morals before. Marines being too expensive for what they're doing is the real reason why Tau don't try to make their own. 4) Ethereals are completely aware how out of heir depth they are. The rest of Tau don't. Ethereals are trying to ease the culture shock gradually. Ethereals purposefully make Tau expansion slow so Imperium keep seeing them as a nuisance, not a real threat, because they know Tau empire won't survive Imperium seeing them as a threat. 5) Tau almost never "get the job they hate" because they're brainwashed from infancy to love their job and very idea of having a CHOICE to have some other job is completely alien to them. If anything the main source of drama for Tu kids is not getting their job SOON ENOUGH. 6) Tau have free will. Mind control is used to plan the idea in and help with brainwashign you with regular old propaganda and mental menipulation. Once it's done, Ethereals won't need to mind control you, as you're already a fervent believer in the Greater Good. They can use it to give you an exra morale boost when going gets hard, but the system is designed so Ethereals don't need to intervene much. As I said, they're brainwashed from infancy. Tau don't have families - children are raised in government-controlled facilities, so they're basically entire society of orphans.

What people forget is that while the naïveté of the Tau is butt of all jokes, don’t forget they learn from there mistakes. The Tau from the current setting are different from when they were introduced. It’s similar a naive child who has experienced a hurtful encounter, possess a remarkable ability to retain the memory of that experience. However, what sets them apart is their ability to reflect upon those mistakes, adapt their strategies, and forge ahead with newfound wisdom. Like a child who learns from their past actions, the Tau have honed their understanding to the universe of 40k but merely scratched the surface.

Probably something to note, the Deathwatch captured a live ethereal and disproved the mind control pheromone theory a magos biologis hypothesized with an ethereal corpse a while back. Most of the information we have on them is colored by inquisitorial propaganda as well, because the best way to scare a bunch of healthy testosterone filled soldiers awat from the supposedly friendly xenos is by telling them they'll lose their manhood. On a similar note, Farsight's camp can get pretty dark if you look at it long enough. One of his commanders isn't actually a volunteer/heir, he's just a clone of the original each time he dies. And this is the same guy who got angry at the Empire for punishing him because he started exterminating humans without mercy instead of offering them peace. They have their grim darkness of course but a lot of the really bad stuff isn't very reliable. On a separate note though I loved this video, finally tracked it down after watching a bunch of shorts, keep up the good work!

It is fantastic to see 40k fans who aren't T'au players who actually understand our Lore. I first started T'au in 4th Edition and even then the Ethereals were incredibly suspect. Thank you for putting in the effort and looking at our faction for what it is, I'm heading straight to your Farsight video after this.

@@slidemguy The Custodes were built to be Big-E's friends and confidants while still being utterly loyal. They are - as I see it - the Emperor's eventual plan for Humanity. An entire race of Custodians. The Space Marines were created for the Great Crusade, like upscaled Thunder Warriors, but instead of killing them all when they were no longer needed, he would keep them around, but likely wouldn't make any more of them.

As far as I remember from the Tau Codex from 2011 the war with the Imperium was a little different. The Tau were conquering Rim-Worlds of the Imperium and didn't meet much resistance but after like 200 years the slow bureaucracy of the Empire finally had time to turn their heads to the Tau and utterly crushed their arrogance with waves of soldiers until they had bigger problems somewhere different and made a shaky peace deal.
@UnknownSquid
@UnknownSquid Жыл бұрын
You're exaggerating the result of the crusade far too much there, with the "utterly crushed" stuff. The Damocles crusade was basically the Imperium's version of Vietnam. They set out on a crusade to purge the Tau and shatter their empire, but accomplished neither of these goals. The Imperium was able to retake it's rogue colonies without any real fighting, but once within Tau space they really didn't have any relevant success at all. They razed two tiny remote outposts with less than a million population between them (equivalent to taking a single city, in IRL Earth scale), had several fleet engagements along the way where they were surprised by how formidable the Tau warships were, with some close calls for the fleet, and then they hit the Sept World of Dal'yth, the first actual developed Tau world they'd encountered. That's where the Crusade ended, after fierce fighting on Dal'yth with heavy losses on both sides, but ultimately the Crusade forces finding themselves significantly insufficient to actually take the world. Their fleet had lost a 3rd of it's capital ships and over a 3rd of it's ships in total, without enough left to defend the transports if another engagement were to happen. The Crusade leadership ordered a full withdrawal of it's forces from Dal'yth, and had already virtually completed Operation Hydra ( concentrating their forces on a space port to make their extraction ) by the time Inquisitor Kryptman's order to return and reinforce Ultramar against the Tyranids came in. What's even more, the Crusade's leaders actually entered into open diplomacy with the Tau in order to negotiate a safe retreat without further pursuit. That's not something done from a dominant position, especially by an Imperial crusade. The fleet was in such bad shape that if attacked again, most of it's transports for the ground forces might not make it home. The Tau did learn that poking the Imperium is a risky thing to do, and that they need to be prepared if doing again so in the future (which they have done, quite a lot), but ultimately they celebrate the date of the Damocles Crusade as a great historic victory. ( Same as how the Vietnamese actually celebrate the Vietnam war.)
@ravenwhiteduck6460
@ravenwhiteduck6460 11 ай бұрын
@@UnknownSquidnot even, the damocles crusade was their smallest crusade ever, it was once they were past their frontier that they ran into trouble, but then the tyranids happened so they said screw it we got bigger problems to deal with, no it was not their Vietnam, tyranids are the vietnam
@UnknownSquid
@UnknownSquid 11 ай бұрын
@@ravenwhiteduck6460 It was only once they were past the frontier that they ran in to basically anything. 90% of the fighting happened on Dal'yth, where they lost a third of their forces and were forced to retreat, BEFORE news of the Tyranids arrived. The Tyranids were only a reason to get home faster, not the reason the Crusade started packing it's bags. Feel free to brush up on Operation Hydra if you doubt me. Just like Vietnam the Imperium lost with heavy casualties to an enemy that they vastly underestimated, leaving without having accomplished any of their goals. Not a single Sept world taken, and the Tau Empire fully in tact. The Tyranids are something else all together. A zerg invasion unlike any regular war Earth has experienced.

I always liked the analogy that the writers underhanded every faction at the tau like a toddler swinging a bat. They have fought, A barely caring imperium A mostly defunct necron tomb A half dead splinter fleet A minor ork warboss A small raid group of Dark Eldar not even trying to fight And a coupoe more I cant recall off the top of my head. And each one has proven any more attention and it quickly becomes a "Lenny put the puppy down" situation The only proper fight any tau has gotten into went so poorly that they only barely survived because the god they never asked for bailed them out.
